Anastasia among Holsten Qualifiers

ANASTASIA DOBROMYSLOVA and Robert Thornton were among the final 16 Holsten Qualifiers to win a place in the Blue Square UK Open on Sunday.

Dobromyslova, the current BDO/WDF Womens World Champion, came through the North-West Regional Final to book her place in the UK Open televised finals at the Reebok Stadium next month.

Dobromyslova - who emulates Crissy Howatt and Deta Hedman as a female UK Open qualifier - will be joined in Bolton by current World Masters winner Robert Thornton, the Scottish star who overcame Glenn Moody, Dave Prins and Alan Slater to qualify.

Former PDPA members Paul Whitworth and Dave Johnston, from Salford and Wigan respectively, won places at the Reebok Stadium in the North-West Regional Final.

Middlesbrough duo Adrian Welsh and Chris Hornby - who played in the 1997 Embassy Championship - also qualified, alongside Scottish duo Joe Bata, from Edinburgh, and Paisley^s Andrew Callary Snr.

There was disappointment for Alan Tabern Jnr, the son of world number 13 Alan Tabern, who lost 5-4 to Ian Gunion in his semi-final clash after having darts for victory.

In the South-West Regional Final, Sheerness^ Geoff Harkup qualified for a fourth successive UK Open.
