Setting up your Dartboard

Once you have bought your dartboard (or dragged it out of its hiding place/your attic), you need to set it up to get the most use and practice out of it. Here are some tips that will help you create the perfect setting.

Choose an area which isn’t a walkway or a doorway, you don’t want any accidents and more importantly, any interruptions to your game!

Look at your flooring… you can stop now… will it get damaged or worn easily? You may like to invest in a Dart Mat, which can protect your flooring as well as your bank balance (new flooring can be expensive!). This will protect your floor and will also mark the correct distance you should be standing at.

Try to have as much light as possible and avoid as much shadow on your dartboard as possible.

Protect your walls with a Dartboard Cabinet or Dartboard Surround.

Consider an Electronic scorer, which will keep your scores.

Some comfy seats would be great for your audience and other players.

A table for your darts manuals, books and other accessories, but more importantly drinks!

Throwing Measurements:

  • Hang your Dartboard at a height of 5ft 8in from floor to Bull.
  • Stand at a distance of 7ft 9¼in from front or Dartboard to Oche (throwing line)
  • Centre of Dartboard to Oche should be 9ft 7.5in – imagine a diagonal line that can be measured from the centre of the bullseye to the oche line.
