For the second time in as many weeks, Harvester have beaten Red Arrows reigning champions of the Forest of Arden Winter League. After defeating them 8-1 in the league, they have now knocked them out of the league’s Presidents Cup with a 7-2 result, despite a 160 finish from Arrows John Cartmell. Dave Duncan had a 160 break in Highwood Arrows 7-2 win against Cock and Hens. Joining Harvester and Highwood Arrows in the next round are Hobs Meadow, Highwood, Glades and Stechford Social.

The Belgrave Individual League got underway with eight players recording maximums. Mick Bagley hit two in his 2-1 defeat of Keith Haddon, while the other seven players, Gordon Clinton, Ricky Lawrence, Derek Fardon, Garh Mills, Andy Hanslow (2), Raj Singh and Mick Smith.

A 160 break from J.Best (W.C.WMC) was not enough for his team to avoid a 6-3 defeat in division one of the Harborne and District Winter League and see their opponents, the Bell take their winning run to five games. There was a similar occurrence in division two as Leaders Hillyfields maintained their 100% record with a 6-3 win at the Punchbowl, whose R.Mann had a 160 break.

The battle at the top of the Longwood Winter League continues as the top two teams, Red Lion ‘A’ and Dolphin recorded wins. Red Lion beat Queens ‘B’ 6-2, while Dolphin pulled one leg back as they won 7-1 at the Jolly Sailor. Both teams are locked on 33 points with Red Lion just five legs ahead of their rivals. Queens Head are third and won 5-3 at home to bottom of the table 5-3, but still remain five points adrift of the leading pair.

In the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League the Saltley Gardeners versus Highwood fixture produced a 160 break for both side, for Saltley N.Clarke hit the top break and for Highwood D.Duncan. Best finish of the week went to Iron Horse representative D. Marshal, who chalked up a magnificent maximum finish of 170. There was a 160 break for P.Burnham (Fordbridge Social) and a 180 for C.Henn (St Annes).
In division one British Telecon were top scorers with a 9-0 success at the Pavilions. !60 breaks went to S.Weir (EBAHA), M.Kirwan and M.Powers, both from Shard End Social. J.Boyle (Small Heath Gardeners) was division two’s top achievement.
In round one of the league’s Punchbowl, last season’s winners and runners up, Three Horse Shoes and Highwood go safely through to round two with respective win’s against Yardley Ex Service and Shard End RBL. Other teams successful in round one were, Millhouse, Chelmsley Wood RBL, Sheldon Shoes, Sheldon and Marlboro Club, Saltley Amateur Gardeners, St Annes, Iron Horse, Malt Shovel, Sheldon Heath Dukes, Solihull Borough F.C, EBAHA, Sheldon Social, Small Heath Gardeners and Shard End RBL Flights.

The Ace of Clubs Charity team are in action again in an effort to raise funds for charity. The latest team to take on the charity side are the Harborne and District League, the match to be played at the league headquarters, the Hillyfields, Quinton on Saturday 23rd November. Match play will commence at 8-00pm and the entrance is free. All proceeds will be shared between the Diana Princess of Wales Children’s Hospital and Cancer research.
