West Midlands winning run in division four of the BDO Inter Counties Championships continues as in their latest fixture, a home tie against the Isle of Wight, they recorded their best win of the campaign so far 27-9. The ladies ‘B’ made it two consecutive wins as they won 4-2, the men’s ‘B’ followed up their two 9-3 victories with a 10-2 success. Sunday’s games saw the ladies chalk up a draw and the men a 10-2 win. The overall win consolidates the Midlanders pole position in the promotion table giving them 77 points, their nearest rivals Gwynedd six points behind.

Match awards went to Chris Hickman (28.93), Dave Evans (24.64), Angie Perry (17.48) and Kath Jenkins (17.12).

Two teams, Stechford Social and the Glades lost their unbeaten record this week in the Forest of Arden Winter League. Stechford went down 7-2 at home to leaders Highwood Arrows, while Glades lost by the same margin at the Harvester. With a 180 from Ron Marston, Hobs Meadow Mixes gained their first win of the season, a 5-4 success in their home tie with Cock and Hens. Mixes local rivals Hobs Meadow kept on course with an 8-1 victory over Mackadown Social, Mick Benson having a 160 break for Hobs.

The draw for the quarter finals of the league’s Presidents Cup is, Stechford Social v Glades, Highwood Arrows v Harvester, Sheldon Heath Flights v Three Horse Shoes, Hobs Meadow v Highwood.

The early pacesetter in the Belgrave Social Individual Winter League is Andy Hanslow. Having played and won four games Andy is just ahead on average of Mark Hollyoake, Mark Slater and Colin Farrington, who have also won all four fixtures. Robert Mills is another undefeated player, but he has only played three games.

Hitting maximums this week were, Mick Bagley (2), Derek Fardon, Robert Mills, Lance Thompson, Colin Farrington and Ricky Lawrence.

KCA continue to impress in the Aston League as they raced to an 8-1 win at the Mitre to keep them top of the table, two points in front of both Heartlands, who beat King Edward 8-1 and Kings Ex Service, who had a narrow 5-4 victory at Old Oscott WMC.

The Bell maintained their 100% win record in division one of the Harborne and District Winter League as they, with a 6-3 scoreline accounted for Bartley Green Social Club. The chasing pair of Midland Red and Raven squared up to each other on the Ravens board, but it was the visiting team that got the 5-4 win and the points. The curent position is now, Bell top on 12 points, Midland Red second, with 10 points and Raven third a further two points adrift.

Both of the top two teams in division had their winning runs ended when leaders Hillyfields finished on the wrong side of a 6-3 scoreline at home to the Pheasant and Punchbowl, who lost by the same score at third placed Hobsons Choice. No such problems in the third division as top team Travellers Rest scrped home 5-4 at the Stump and seocnd in the table Cock Inn beat bottom team Stonehouse Flights 8-1.

Heartlands were top scores in the curtain raiser for the Small Heath League beating Ward End Ex Service Club 8-1. Black Horse were close behind with their 7-2 win over Red Devils Club and there were 6-3 wins for Custard House and Brewer and Baker against respective opponents Gunmakers and Gables Tavern.
