Wham Bam slam the Mam

I’M on top of the world this week — or Europe at least — after winning the first European Championship.

It was a really hard four days in Frankfurt and the tournament will go down as one of the toughest I have ever taken part in after playing three games on the last day.

Sometimes people don’t realise how much it takes out of you getting ready for one game and then having to lift yourself, not once but twice after that, for a semi-final or a final.

And I was over the moon to score two out of the top five highest averages on TV ever. But I want to break the record average of over 114 for every three darts — and I believe I can.

Maybe that will be in the Grand Slam of Darts?

The draw was yesterday and I am grouped with Vincent van der Voort, Andy Jenkins and Phill Nixon in round one.

The games are best of nine legs, so you have to be straight into your stride, and I think there will be plenty of shocks.

Russian Anastasia Dobromyslova, who is the Women’s World Champion, is in with John Part, Wayne Mardle and Kevin McDine and it will be fascinating to see how she gets on.

But I’ll not be giving up my title without a fight in Wolverhampton — it will be a belter!

The Grand Slam of Darts will be shown live on ITV4 from November 15-23. For tickets call 0870 320 7000.
