Van Veen Extends Contract with Red Dragon Darts!

Gian van Veen a real rising talent in the world of arrows has extended his deal at Red Dragon, impressing in the Online Live League before going on to make an appearance on the PDC Euro Tour last month in Belgium.

The Dutchman has won two events in the PDC so far in 2022, making his name known to the rest of the field winning Development Tour 18 and Challenge Tour 12, including a fantastic 115.92 average against Cavan Phillips en route to winning DT 18.

Gian has played on the Euro Tour twice after appearing in Hildesheim against Winmau star Vincent van der Voort before a matchup in Wieze: Belgium, against fellow Red Dragon star Ryan Meikle who is also enjoying a fantastic 2022 campaign.

The youngster has certainly made a name for himself in the Online Live League, winning week four in phase four against Nathan Girvin in the Final 4-1 and including a 4-2 victory over Conor Heneghan with an impressive 103.21 average.

The 20 year old went all the way to the Stage 1 Week 3 Final against Graham Hall having come through his group on the Saturday that included Danny van Trijp, a man who has found a perfect leg this year in the Modus event.

The Red Dragon star would lose out 4-2 to Hall in the Final, but from the quality he showed all week it’s fair to say it won’t be long before a tournament victory comes.

Gian started playing from the age of 10 whilst still enjoying football as well, entering darts competition at his local club just for fun which he would go on to win. From then on, the love for the sport would rise having found an interest in playing as well as watching which really started to get the ball rolling on a future playing career in the game.

At the age of 14, Van Veen won the Dutch Open Under 14’s event back in 2016 before going on to win the 2018 Denmark Masters Youth and the Belfry Open Youth in 2019.

Gian spoke to Red Dragon after signing his new contract saying: “I am very happy with the renewal of my contract with such a big company as Red Dragon darts. It is great to hear the confidence they have in me and that they want to be on my side and help me with developing my career as a darts player. I am excited to continue my journey with Red Dragon and I cannot wait to see what the future holds!”

Red Dragon Marketing Director Simon Hall also spoke on the new deal saying: “We are very happy to have Gian continue his amazing journey with us. This year has been a breakthrough with strong performances coming in the Modus Events whilst also making a couple of appearances on the PDC Euro Tours in Germany and Belgium. The future certainly looks bright!”
