Jennings in Harms Way
O’Shea will face Dutchman Wesley Harms in the semi-final after he won the battle of the Lakeside debutants by beating Paul Jennings 5-3.
Jennings came from behind in the first set, hitting a fine 120 checkout for a break of throw before taking the next two legs to go a set in front. Harms turned the match around by winning the next two sets but Jenno levelled up the match by taking out a brilliant 115 finish for the fourth set.
Sparky hit back, taking out 101 after four consecutive tons in a very solid leg, on his way retaking to the lead. He won every leg in set five and then took the sixth set, hitting a brilliant 107 finish to leave himself a set from victory.
Harms took out 101 for the second time in the match before Jennings reeled off three straight legs to pull a set back, hitting an excellent eleven darter in the process. The Dutchman then took the final set 3-1, hitting double ten to book his place in the last four.
The semi-final line up will be completed on Friday when Alan Norris plays Christian Kist and Martin Atkins faces Ted Hankey.
