Dave Ladley’s Killarney Players Championship Report – Sunday 17th October 2010
In the first round I had drawn the winner of a preliminary match which was won by Paul Waters on the Republic of Ireland.
I won the first leg but lost the second leg and raised the level of my game to win the match convincingly by a 6-1 score.
The second round I was drawn against Richie Burnett of Wales. Richie is an ex World Champion and has a huge list of achievements to his name and his first round was a good performance so this was going to be a tough match.
Richie took the first leg and I responded by taking the second to bring the game to 1-1.
Unfortunately this was my last leg and I lost the match 1-6.
In the last 5 legs that I lost I was very close and although the score seems like a convincing win for Richie it was much closer than the score suggests.
Richie had a good run into the semi finals where he was beaten 6-5 by the eventual winner Gary Anderson.
Well done Richie and well done Gary!
Also a great win for our Yorkshire travelling companion Joe Cullen over the 15 times World Champion Phil Taylor!
