Article: Bumper Open Weekend for "Mile High" Hylton

Bumper Open Weekend for "Mile High" Hylton

As reported in July^s frequent flyer there are several periods in the PDC calendar when players need to stay sharp occupy their time and earn a few extra £^s to help with expenses. Mark is one of the most active darters in the professional ranks. Playing 3 evenings a week of league/superleague darts as well as 1-4 Opens each week as well !

The 1st Weekend of August proved a great return to form for Mark, the rewards for some additional work are beginning to come through:

The Chase Social :

A favorite event of Mark^s was claimed again on Thursday night with a very strong performance against some good quality opposition. Jason Gilbert 3-2, Dougie Thompson 3-0, Chris Stanley 4-2 & Adie Mabeley in the Final. This is a really enjoyable evening thanks to all for the hospitality and effort.

The 1st Friday:

Another old favorite, this time at The Pint Pot with the event started by LPKOD and now run by SDP. It is, in my opinion one, of the best of the smaller Opens anywhere. Good prizes, good extra^s, well run and a very strong field of regular players. This time "Mile High" reclaimed an event which he has won over 20 times. Wins over Scott Alexander, Jordan Vickers, Dean Bond & Richard Hosey. Nice to see everyone again.

The Cannock Open:

Yet another favored event on the same weekend! Until this event we cannot remember a Cannock open that Mark did not reach the last 4 of and usually he wins it. However just top prove these things could never be taken for granted, a last 16 defeat to Ian Jones was the outcome. Mark and Whippet have had some tough battles over the last couple of years. The ones I have witnessed started at The Border Classic in 2010. On the whole every game is good and although Mark had the upper hand in 2010/11 Ian has had a strong recent run. The event was claimed by Nik Fullwell pipping Ian in the final.

The double16.com Newark Open

Mark has always enjoyed double 16 events, win or lose. They provide opportunity to catch up with many friends some of whom he has known for many years. Newark of course has great memories following a first competitive 9 darter in 2011. Mark and other lpkod members have attended on nearly everyone held here and they are all quality events. A great start against Graham McFarlane and then strong performances in the Qtr against Jay Forman, and then the Semi vs Ian Jones again. A good final performance ensured that the weekend was finished in style.

Just to prove that some guys really do have all the luck, " Mile High" then took up the standing invite for Sunday dinner at our house on his way home! Tis OK for some!
