It is now official, Hobs Meadow have retained their Forest of Arden Winter League title. A 7-2 victory at the Warwick Aero is all that was required to guarantee Hobs this seasons title and helping them to that title was Wayne Mathews who in his game hit a maximum. Hobs Meadow Mixes, with a 160 break from Mark Osborne, recorded a 7-2 win at home over the Harvester. Harvester’s Mick Burrows chalked up the league’s highest finish of the season so far, 154. Harvester are now level on the same ten points as Stechford Social, the two teams fighting it out for the shadow league title.

Silver Wings stay on course for the runners up spot with a 6-3 success against the Cock and Hens, Chris Busby hitting a 180 for the winners.

In division one of the Harborne 401 Summer League the match between Ladywood Social and Lickey Banker contained no fewer than 42 tons with a 160 break for both sides. T.Byrne (Ladywood Social) and M.Poulton (Lickey Banker) were the players with the top breaks while Ladywood were the team who got the close 5-4 verdict. A third 160 break was recorded in the division supplied by P.O’Neill (Hobsons Choice ‘A’) plus a 180 from team mate V.Higgins. But despite this Hobsons went down 5-4 at home to Midland Red.

Hotshots in the second division came from Avenue Social’s G.Grant as they won 8-1 against Stonehouse Flights. However the highlight of the week was the performance by R.Vann from the Coronation Club. Vann not only had a 160 break but also produced a magnificent maximum 170 game shot, which unfortunately was not enough for his team to avoid a 7-2 defeat at the hands of the Stonehouse.
