In the Forest of Arden Winter League, Hobs Meadow, after their somewhat surprising defeat last week to local rivals Hobs Meadow Mixes, have bounced back in the best possible way with a resounding 8-1 success at home to the Cock and Hens. Mixes meanwhile travelled to take on Solihull Borough Flights and suffered their first defeat of the campaign a 7-2 reversal.
Red Arrows continued their impressive form beating early season pacesetters Highwood 6-3 with Brian Allen recording a 160 break. Another team who got the season off to a fine start were the Harvester, but in their latest fixture they went down 5-4 at home to Stechford Social.

Peter Allen suffered a setback to his title hopes in the Minworth Social Individual League this week as he, for the first time this season actually lost on of his fixtures. Despite hitting 140,131 and 7x100 Allen finished on the wrong side of a 2-1 result against Steve Brindley. However, he quickly recovered and went on to beat Tony Randell 2-1 to maintain his number one spot which he now shares with Mark Hollyoake. Both players have played 12 games won 11 lost 1 and have exactly the same average, 31 for and 5 against with 53 points. Hollyoake was in fine form with 3-0 wins over Adrian Hammersley and Ricky Lawrence.
Steve Cain, Mick Smith, Lance Thompson, Mark Hollyoake, Tony Whitehouse, Steve Brindley, Peter Allen and Chris Forsyth all hit 180’s.

There were wins for the top three teams in division two of the Longwood Winter League, with leaders Railway beating Cue Sports 6-2 to ensure the hold on to their six points advantage over the chasing three teams, Progressive Club, who won 7-1 at the Boot, Plough and Harrow, who beat fourth placed Royal Oak (Kingsbury) 5-3 to just sneak above them on average. In the preliminary round of the league cup Plough and Harrow and the Royal Oak met again, the former going one better this time ad winning 6-3.
In division one the top two teams Three Horse Shoes and White Lion both had byes, third in the table Red Lion ‘A’ (Wilnecote) made up ground on the leading pair with a 6-2 win at the Dolphin.

In the West Midlands Super League Tipton began life at thier new home venue, Tipton Sports and Social Club with a cracking 7-2 victory over Smethwick ‘B’, the match containing no fewer than 60 scores of a ton or more with Tipton registering 37 of them. Mick James was the man to take the man of the match accolade for the hosts, beating Mark Bowen 2-1, hitting 4x140 and 3x100 in his winning 15 and 16 darts legs to give him a very creditable 28.13 average.
Other games saw Wednesbury and Wednesfield record 6-3 wins against respective opponents Penkridge and Coseley.
