A Look Back in Time - 05.10.2005
Following their opening match defeat away to Kent Warwickshire will be hoping to kick start their season in the premier division of the BDO Inter Counties Championship this coming weekend when they take on Lincolnshire in what will be their first home fixture of the campaign. Saltley Amateur Gardeners finished their season in group one of the Sheldon and District Summer League on a high as they beat Mackadown Social 5-3 to clinch the group title. Fordbridge Social took the runners up spot with a similar 5-3 win at RAFA, losing the title race by just one point.
Banbury Club are the group two winners on 15 points, two ahead of Stechford Social, while in group three Brook Meadow, who dropped just one point this season, finished on 19 points, a massive seven more than their nearest rivals, Lea Hall Sports and Social. Group four went to Bromford Bridge Members Club, Harvester were second one point adrift of the champions.
Group’s five and six were won respectively by Shard End Social and Old Bill and Bull.

The Sheldon and District Winter League raised the curtain on their new season with emphatic wins for both Highwood and Malt Shovel in the premier division, both of them in turn chalking up 8-1 wins over Sheldon Social and Hen and Chickens. Best game of the division went to Mark Birch (Brook Meadow), an eight darts leg in his side’s 5-4 win at Sheldon Dukes.
Biggest win in division one went to Raven, another 8-1 margin as they defeated Old Bill and Bull. J.Daby (Yardley Ex Service Colts) recorded a 160 break as his team went down 5-4 at home to RAFA, Harvester were the second division top shots, a 7-2 success at the Gunmaker Arms.

The first round of the Coronation Shield was on the agenda for the Four Oaks and District League and produced no fewer than, 30x140’s plus 140 scores of a ton or more. Old Oscott Arrows and Barn Social both had 11-4 wins in their ties with Rose and Crown and Boldmere Sports. Other teams to win through to round two were, Old Oscott WMC, Hardy Spicer, Anvil Nomads and Kingstanding Ex Servicemen’s Club.
M.Sheppard (Rose and Crown) had a 160 break.

Just one fixture was played in the Small Heath League, which saw Wagon and Horse record a surprising 6-3 win over title contenders Custard House, who had previously won their opening two games. Six teams are now on four points, however, reigning champions Mitre and Bromford Bridge Social Club ’A’ both have a game in hand on Victoria 301 Club, Custard House, Innisfree and Gunmaker Arms.

On the fixture card for the G.U.L.P. Charity League was the first round of their L.R.Wyatt Memorial Cup. Tigers had an emphatic 6-1 victory over the Barmy Army, while Tribe, Victoria Beast and the Who’s all won 5-2 against respective opponents Radley Rebels, Red Lion Flights and Red Devils.
