YDP Upside Down Darts Open - David Does Doggy in Style

Thurnscoe^s David "The Dart Knight" Copley showed no matter where we put the treble twenty he will seek and destroy it as he produced a high level of darting expertise in winning the first YDP Upside Down Darts Open held at Huntington WMC in York. The event organised in Association with Streamline Taxis (York) and Red Dragon Darts saw two of Yorkshire^s finest go head head in the final. The event which had the 20 segment at the bottom of the board and all other numbers in opposite positions was made to look easy as Copley despatched legs of 18-17-18 and a 14 dart leg decider to defeat Brian "Doggy" Dawson (18, 116 finish for 18 and 17) 4-3 in a final.

Copley was on fire from his first match as he hitting 3 x 180^s during legs of 16-17-16-18-16 and 13 on route to the semi-final where he beat Cawood^s Johnathan Corssland 4-1 with 15-17 and 14 dart legs.

Dawson^s journey to the final included 101 finish for 18-20-17-14 and 15 dart legs before taking out York^s Trevor Day, who is on a run of great form himself since qualifying for The YDP Pro-am Grand Finals, in the other semi final.
Other legs of note came from Crossland (18-20-17 and 21), Richie Corner (2 x 16), Paul Train (16), Paul Saville (20), Day (18), Stuart Limbert (20-21) and Colin Hendry who hit a 180 score in his 13 dart leg. Further 180^s were scored by Train (2) and Quentin Mcmaster whilst a 171 score was recorded by Vinnie Gothard and a 174 score by Paul Bainbridge.

The Blind Pairs event was won by Colin Hendry and Neil Hart who defeated Vinney Gothard and Richie Corner 2-1 in the final. Beaten Semi-finalists were Phil Good & Trevor Day and Alex Grand & Grant Gothard.

YDP^s next event is this Saturday 14th September 2013 at The Greyhound in Bridlington for the first of 8 qualifying stages of The YDP Masters. Entry Fee is just £5 with £200 being paid out at the qualifying stage and all the 1/4 finalists qualifying for the Grand Finals in York in January 2014 where the overall winner will receive £1,000.

Tickets for the YDP Pro-am Grand Finals which showcases eight Top BDO Professionals at Huntington WMC on Wednesday 9th October 2013 will be on sale at this event and are just £7.50 each can be prurchased from Neil Hart at this event
