Wright Targeting Premier League Final

Peter Wright believes he will play “dangerous” James Wade in the final after blasting his way back into Unibet Premier League title contention. The Livingston-born ace reeled off five successive legs on the way to a 7-2 win over the Dutch legend Raymond van Barneveld in Aberdeen a week ago. Wright is now just one point outside the top four places and now faces a crunch clash with Daryl Gurney in Nottingham tonight (Thurs). Snakebite admitted: “If you’re not playing well everyone just jumps on top of you to try and keep you under the ground. They don’t want you coming back up. “I wanted to try my new darts out after Minehead. But I didn’t get back from there until Tuesday night because the car’s power steering was knackered. “So we were stuck there until Tuesday and then flew up to Aberdeen. As soon as we unpacked the car I got these new darts out. “The next morning I got up packed really early and got on the board for a couple of hours before leaving for Scotland and they seemed to be working. “I think I’m under the radar, I hope so. I’ll be there in the final because I’m going to pick up the trophy at the end of it. “The danger man in this tournament is James Wade. When he is very happy he’s the most dangerous dart player in the world. When he’s upset, you’ve got a chance. “But when he’s a happy man he’s very difficult to beat. He is probably the favourite for this tournament but I reckon I’ll be playing him in the final.” Snakebite was back to his best on home soil in Aberdeen, averaging 111.68 at one stage against a struggling and bewildered Barney on his final appearance in Scotland. He added: “I glanced on the screen and saw I was averaging 111 and I wanted to get even better. “It’s an amazing atmosphere again in Scotland, it’s always very special for me. I really enjoyed every moment of it. “It was tough playing Raymond for the last time in Scotland. Barney is an amazing guy and done a fantastic job for darts. I’m going to miss him. “I'm pleased with the way it went and I'm happy with the win. I've changed from 24 gram darts to 26 grams since last week and there's loads of potential in them. I want to be more consistent and average over 100 more regularly. “Aberdeen is always special, it’s electrifying and produces great matches and averages or nine-darters. “It must be the crowd or the arena. But the new arena I saw looks amazing and it holds 10,000.
