Wright "living the dream" of proud Scot in Glasgow
PETER WRIGHT admitted he is “living the dream” after a Valentine’s Night fightback to earn the love of Glasgow.
The World No.3 was given a glorious welcome from the Dartan Army as he ground out a 6-6 draw with Michael Smith at the SSE Hydro last night.
Snakebite, kitted out in flowers and hearts headpaint, found an extra gear to come from 4-1 down for his second successive draw.
He admitted: “I wore my flowers of Scotland trousers, pretty flowers though! I’m living the dream in front of 11,000 Scots cheering for me.
“I felt a bit sorry for Michael because the fans got to him a bit. But I guess it’s the same for me in England and Holland sometimes.
“It’s another good draw for me from 4-1 down. We had an amazing game in the Pro Tour at the weekend, I wish that had been televised instead of this one.
“It was a good comeback. I kept going and a draw is better than a defeat. That’s why this Premier League is so amazing and tough.”
Wright took the opening leg but then it was all Bully Boy in full flow roaring to four successive legs to silence the Hydro in style.
But Snakebite then played out of his skin to go 6-5 up with Smith salvaging a draw with double six.
However, Bully Boy was furious at throwing away his big lead as a fan kept putting him off in the front row.
He said: “I’m annoyed at myself for letting that happen, it got to me and that’s so frustrating. Maybe a year ago I might have lost my head completely.
“It’s hard to take. I’m just here to put on a good show and earn for my family. I don’t think it’s nice that someone goes out to stop me like that.”
GERWYN PRICE survived another bout of the boo boys to draw with Raymond van Barneveld - but admitted he “bombed”.
The Welshman had one match dart to win 7-2 but in the end the Dutchman came back to snatch an unlikely point.
Price said: “The atmosphere when I walked on was second to none, it’s brilliant. But they say I’m doing gamesmanship, it’s just difficult on doubles sometimes. But I enjoyed it, never mind.
“It’s a point gone missing where I probably should have won that game easy. I should have won that game 7-1 but the crowd got into the game.
“I’m happy to be where I am. The crowd were amazing, I thought they were going to be a lot worse but I absolutely loved it.
“I drew that game 6-6 and I bombed numerous opportunities. If I start to clean up, sharpen up on doubles and be more consistent in those areas, who knows? My target is to get in the top four and I think that is realistic.”
RVB paid tribute to the fans, he said: “The fans never let me down. They are like this every time I am here. I love Scotland and I can only say I love these fans.
“I was playing great in practice but it didn’t happen to start with but the crowd got involved and helped me. I’m just happy to get a point.”

Voltage admitted: “I feel really good right now. I’m getting my consistency back and my old game is here again.”
Glen Durrant held a Gary Anderson scarf aloft for his walk-on which delivered an incredible reception from the Scots fans. But his doubles let him down and Daryl Gurney romped to a 7-3 win.
Michael van Gerwen went to the top of the league with a comfortable 7-3 win over Mensur Suljovic.
