York^s Richie Corner reached back to back Semi Finals in the latest Ranking Events of The Streamline Taxis York Open Darts Championships organised in Association with Red Dragon Darts.
Events Four and Five saw four different players contesting the finals which shows the strenght in depth that this event has now achieved.
Stuart Limbert (18) fell foul to a flawless performance from Mark Lawrence with winning legs of 14-15-15-17 and 15 which included a 116 and 115 finish to win Ranking Event Four. Corner lost 4-0 to Lawrence (12-19-15 and 18) in the Semi-final whilst Limbert (2 x 15-17 and a 112 finish for 12) disposed of David Copley (18-17) 4-2 in the other.
Quarter Final Results were: James Weldon 0 Richie Corner 3. Paul Saville 1 Mark Lawrence 3, Dave Copley (18 and 17) 3 Brian Dawson (14) 2 and Phil Chapman 1 Stuart Limbert (17-18) 3.
Furthest lady prize was shared by 3 players Linda Stavley, Jo Hodges and Kath Renwick with Adam Pearce winning the furthest Youth Prize. Dan Lidgett won the highest checkout with a 130 finish.
Redcar^s Jonny Gardner hit 4 x 180^s in legs of 13-21-17-13 and 17 to take Ranking Event 5 defeating Leeds based Stephen Blower (180 for 16 and 21) 5-2.
In the Semi-finals Richie Corner hit 3 x 180^s in legs of 15-11 and 21 but still went down to Blower who also included 3 x 180^s in his 14-21-15 and 18 dart legs winning 4-3. Gardner (14-13-14) beat John Quantock (2 x 17) 4-2.
Quarter Final Results were: David Copley 1 Stephen Blower 3, Matt Green 2 Rich Corner 3, John Quantock 3 (15-18-20) Jaron Esteve 0 and Scott Bennett 0 Jonny Gardner (14-13-17) 3.
Michelle Binns won the furthest lady prize with Ollies Laws the best from the Youth. Rick Hudson collected £25 for his 150 out shot being the highest of the day.
A total of 24 x 180^s and 5 ton plus finish were recorded in event four whilst event five saw 36 x 180^s and 9 ton plus outshots.
