"Streamline Performance Tops Temple^s Day"

Whitwell-on-the-Hills, PDC Pro player, Terry Temple had the fortune of qualifying for the 4th Streamline Taxis York Open Darts Championships due to several players being unable to attend the event, thus climbing the rankings and taking full advantage.

The event which has a continued Association with Red Dragon Darts saw Temple, after going behind 3-0 in the first Semi-final to York^s Rich Corner who hit a 131 finish for 15 and 18, bounce back with 17 and 13 dart legs. The match then swung back and forth with Corner adding 18 Temple responding with 2 x 180^s in a 12 dart leg only to be cancelled out by 14 from Corner and leave the Cleveland County player a leg off victory.

Despite Corner adding a 180 and ending the match on an 81.82 ave Temple^s three leg run of 17, 180 for 14 and 18 turned the tide as he closed out the match winning 6-5 with an 88.13 average.

The second Semi-Final was another close encounter between two experienced players which again swung to and fro. Harrogate^s Alex Pride checked out on 141 for 15, followed by 18 and 19 against Scott Bennett^s 21-20 and 180 for 16 to bring the match to 4-4. The next two legs were scrappy but went the way of Lincoln^s Bennett finishing with a 6-4 win and 69.01 ave with Pride on 69.24 ave.

Prior to the last 16 there was a total of 38 legs of 21 darts or less with Temple (12), Hartley and Daniel Lidgett both recording 13 dart legs whilst Corner, Mark Herron, Ian Watson all adding 14 dart legs to the register.

Corner was head of the 180 count hitting an impressive 5 on the day with Dave Lord and Chris Gill both reacording two each. King, Temple Neil Hart, Phil Hoggarth and Trevor Day all added one each.

Other recorder ton plus finishes came from Pride 122, Thompson 120, and Kemp 115.

York^s Jo Hodges (23-28-32) picked up her second Streamline Taxis Ladies Darts Championship title when beating Sharon Neads (24) 3-1 in the final both ladies averaging 52 plus. Hodges had beat Easingwold^s Tracy Marron 3-1 in the semi-final whilst Neads beat Jasmine Scott (York) 3-0.

The 1/4 Finals saw Scott receive a bye whilst Hodges beat Malton^s Cheryl Mitchell 3-1. Neads beat Wetherby^s Beth Metcalfe and Marron beat Linda Staverly (York) both matches 3-0 results.

The Youth event, again sponsored by Streamline Taxis, was down to the Semi-final stage and had Harrogate^s Lewis Pride taking a close 3-2 win over Jamie Branton (Hull) and Dean Spenlow (Hull) beating Tommy Heron (Jnr) 3-0.

The final where Pride (24-27) twice lead before going down to Spenlow (30-25-25) 3-2. Prides average 55.20 whilst Spenlows was 54.89.
