Rich Reward For Corner^s Streamline Performance

York^s Richie "The Gent" Corner was back to form when winning the, 5th Streamline Taxis York Open Darts Championship, Ranking Event 2.

The event organised in Association with Red Dragon Darts and receiving a record breaking 116 entries saw Corner (21-16-17 and 20) defeat Brandon Walsh from Doncaster 5-1 in the final after beating Malton^s Graham Steel (19) with legs of 14-16-17 and 20 in a 4-1 Semi-final win. Walsh (15-18 and 21) put an end to John Quantock^s hopes of a final encounter with his Cleveland County teammate winning 4-2 in the second semi with Quantock going out in 18 an 20 darts.

The 1/4 Final Results were as follows:
Terry Temple 2 Rich Corner (120 finish) 3
Dean Norman (19) 1 Graham Steel (19-21-18) 3
Alan Priestley (17) 1 Brandon Walsh (17) 3
Chris Thompson 2 John Quantock 3

On his way to winning his group Terry Temple Included a 122 finish and legs of 12-15-15-20-13-16 and 14 darts. Dave Smith (Leeds) added 16 and 12 with Dean Conley 19-21, Danny Tait 17-18 and Darren Vowles (17) the other top games in Group One.

Phillip Chapman produced the most sub 21 dart legs in Group two hitting 18-15-19-19-17-19 and 20 with Steve Vine 17-20-21-18-19 and Corner 15-17-15 the best of the rest.

Dean Norman (14-16 and 13) was the only player recording fast legs in Group 3 whilst a superb 6 x 180^s were hit by Russ King before going Down to Graham Steel in Group 4 final. Fast legs in the group came from King (20-17), Steel (17-21-17-18-18 and 19), Andy Scott (20), Dean Hatton (20) and in his own words the match of the day where Dave Kerr won 3-0 in 40, 41 and 53 darts. Think it was said tongue in cheek.

Matty Pemberton was the front runner in Group 5 with a 17 and then 17 and 18 darts in a 3-2 win over the very experienced Dave Copley (16).

Legs of 17-15 and 17 were the best for Quentin McMaster in Group Six with Oliver Mitchell (16), Jonny Scott (19-18) and an 18 from Brandon Walsh adding to the tally.

The only fast legs declared in Group 7 were 20 and 21 from Chris Thompson and John Quantock^s (14-17-18-19-15-18 and 17) proved to much for his opponents in Group Eight. Scott Bennett (16), Richard Heathcote (18-19), and Dave Lord (13-15-15) assisted in making it a close group.

In the chase for the £25 highest checkout prize sponsored by Embassy Racing of York Chris Thompson 158 finish came out on top followed by Jaron Esteve 141 and Dave Copley 125. Other ton plus finishes came from Dean Norman 120, Russ Sabin 114, Rich Corner 120 and 109, Steve Vine 107, Liam Blows 105 and Tom Burgss 102.
