Article: Red Dragon Richie makes Lakeside quarter-final.

Red Dragon Richie makes Lakeside quarter-final.

Red Dragon darts sponsored-star, Richie George has followed in his legendary dad Bobby George’s footsteps by making it to the quarter-final of the BDO Lakeside World Championship at Frimley Green.

Winmau-sponsored king of bling Bobby led the cheers stage side, as twenty-three year old Richie – who had already joined his dad in the darting history-books by becoming the first father and son to play in a Lakeside World Championship, followed his 1st round win against Dave Prins with a 2nd round 4-2 victory over Dutch young gun Jimmy Hendriks. Richie will now face another young Dutch ace in Jan Dekker in his quarter-final clash.

"I am enjoying life on the big stage and I will do what I can to keep it going” said Essex-based Richie who is aiming to go one better than his dad’s 1980 and 1994 achievements when he made the final of the competition only to lose out to Eric Bristow and John Part respectively.

"Richie is doing me proud and making his own mark on the game which is ‘luvly-jubbly’. He has a tough match against Jan, but it is also one that he can win” added charismatic dad Bobby.

Everyone at Winmau/Red Dragon wishes Richie well for his quarter-final clash which will be played on Friday 11th January and screened live on ESPN.
