Kist chucks out Norris
Christian Kist 5 – 1 Alan Norris
Lakeside debutant Christian Kist booked his place in the semi-finals after producing a stunning performance to beat Alan Norris.
The 25-year old Dutchman hit ten 180s and finished well in a high quality quarter-final clash. He could now follow in the footsteps of compatriots Raymond van Barneveld and Jelle Klaasen in winning the World Championship.
Kist set off like a steam train, winning six straight legs to take the first two sets in next to no time. Norris got his first leg on the board after the break and went on to win the set with a brilliant 111 checkout, halving his opponent’s advantage.
Kist looked to storm back by hitting back to back 180s but ended up being broken by ‘Chuck’ in a leg where both players ended up on double one. The Lipstick broke straight back before Norris almost made history but just missed his double for a perfect nine dart finish and ended up losing the leg. Kist sealed the fourth set with a fabulous eleven dart finish to restore a two set lead.
Chuck won the first two legs of set five before Kist produced a brilliant 121 finish against the throw. The Dutchman then held his throw before hitting double eighteen to complete the comeback in the set and leave him just one more away from a semi-final spot.
The Lipstick edged even closer when he hit double top to hold his throw before taking out 76 for another break of throw. He then took out 60 to seal an incredible victory and reach the last four at his first attempt.
