"Hart taken to cleaners by Johnson"

Mexborough^s PDC player, Darren Johnson, whitewashed Yorks Neil Hart in the first of twelve Ranking Events being held as part of the 5th Streamline Taxis York Open Darts Championship.
The tournament organised in Association with Red Dragon Darts saw Johnson produced legs of 13, 16, 21, 14 and 21 to complete his final victory and 17, 16, 18 in his 4-1 Semi-final win over fellow PDC Tour player Terry Temple with Hart (18-20-17) winning by the same margin in the second Semi-final against Rich Corner.
Hart closed his 1/4 Final 3-1 win with a bull finish 15 dart leg over Stuart Monaghan (13) with Corner (14-17-17) defeating Paul Bulmer (15) and Johnson (18-13-14) beating John Quantock (19) by the same scoreline Quantock hitting 2 x 180^s. Temple won 3-0 over Jonathan Crosland.

A record equalling, 105 people, entered the event where Hart completed legs of 17-16-20-18-21-18-17-17-17 in winning Group One which also saw 10 year old Ollie Laws narrowly missing double 15 for a 109 finish for a 15 dart leg in the first round against Hart.
Group Two^ s top performance came from Monaghan with 19-13-19 in a 3-1 over Martin Wilson and 3 x 18 darters against Quentin McMaster in the board final.
Corner hit 3x 180^s and legs of 16-17-17-18 and 13 en route to winning Group 3. Joe White (17), Jonny Scott (2 x 18) and Trevor Holtby (14) added further fast legs.
Malton^s Paul Bulmer hit 3 x 180^s and two ton plus finishes (112 & 117) during legs of 15-18-14-15-18-13-15 and 18 to win Group 4 with Bill Pearson adding a 17 dart leg.
Tracey Marran hit a 180 and 121 finish in her 3-1 win over Peter Rushby in Group 5 before narrowley going down 3-2 to Rich Heathcote (180) in round 2 where Heathcote had added a further 180 and legs of 15 and 20 darts in defeating Tony Pearce. Johnson^s highlight in the early stages was a 15-15 and 19 dart 3-0 victory over Steve Kemp Snr who had won in 19-16 and 21 in round one.
Twelve year old Adam Pearce provided the highlight in Group 6 and won the furthest youth prize when beating Richard Lee 3-2 before going down 3-0 to Danny White who had a 15 darter in Round One. Quantock hit a 15, 18 and 13 dart leg along with 120 finish and 180 in winning the group.
Oliver Mitchell 16 plus 180 and Crosland (15-15 and 17) were best in Group 7 with the later winning 3-0 in the board final.
Temples consistancy and PDC experience showed as he dropped just one leg in winning Group 8. Legs of 15-17-13-13-16-16-18-14-15-17-16 and a 147 finish for 15 were to hot for his opponents to handle. Cameron Spiller added 18 and 16 to the groups tally with Peter Maw checking out on 116.
Shaun Day provided the highest checkout of the day taking out a 160 with Tony Billet 130 another ton plus finisher.
Further 180^s were recorded by Hart, Monaghan, Graham Steele, Liam Dawson and Jason Day.

Tim Owen and Jonathan Crossland (2 x 180^s) won the Blind Pairs event beating Joe White and Ken Norton in the final with Pete Rushby/Richard Bevan and Jonny Scott/Stephen Fratson beaten Semi-finalists.

In the Youth Competition, played on the specially adapted lower board, Ollie Laws beat Lewis Day in the final with Leighton Bennett and Dylan Chapman reaching the Semi^s.

Ranking Event Two is on Saturday 17th January 2015 at Huntington WMC in York. Registration closes 12.30pm for a 1pm start. The usual "Blind Pairs" will follow the singles event.
