GENEROUS PRIZE MONEY AND SUPERB FACILITIES ON OFFER AT THE HARLOW OPEN ON MARCH 19
“The Venue” at Harlow Stadium is seeking to establish itself as a major venue for top class darts events and it will host the second Harlow Open on Saturday March 19 with guaranteed prize money of £1,600 on offer.
The first tournament of the year, successfully staged in January, attracted over 120 competitors and saw Darren Webster from Norwich edge out PDC World Darts Championship qualifier Alex Roy in a tense final to claim the £600 winner’s cheque.
Webster will be returning in March to defend the title and he was full of praise for the atmosphere, facilities and the organisation of the event. The well appointed venue offers 24 fixed boards, two bars, hot and cold food prepared on the premises, easy access and ample free parking.
Marketing Director at “The Venue”, Mick Godderidge, says:
“We have ambitious plans to develop “The Venue” at Harlow Stadium into a first rate darts centre capable of attracting the top tournaments. Owner Dave Barclay is a keen darts fan and he recognised the potential in Simon Whitlock when the Australian was competing at “The Venue” in October 2009 and offered him a sponsorship deal. His judgement was vindicated when “The Wizard of Oz” made it to the final of the PDC World Darts Championship at Ally Pally later that year”.
“Our £10 entry fee prior to the tournament also entitles you to an evening’s greyhound racing – with the chance to increase your winnings”, concludes Godderidge.
