Dazzling Dazza^s Lucky 13
Mexbrough^s Darren Johnson hit five 13 dart legs on his way to winning the £200 Stage 8 Prize money and securing his place in The Grand Finals of The Streamline Taxis York Open Darts Championship taking place at Huntington WMC on Saturday 20th August 2011.
The events organised by York Darts Promotions run in association with Red Dragon Darts continue to attract players from far and wide. Johnson (13) defeated Tommy Heron 4-0 in the 1/4 Finals before disposing of Mick Nixon (156 finish for 12, including a 180 score) 4-1 in the semi-finals with 2 x 13 dart legs plus 2 x 180^s. His final opponent Brian Hallis (Huddersfield) checked out on 137 and 120 for two 15 dart legs to defeat Nick Harteveld 4-1 in the quarter^s and then 2 x 16, 14 and 17 completed the whitewash over Ray MacInnally who had earlier beaten Steve Atkin with 17-17-18.
In a top quality final Johnson who hit two further 13 dart legs, then added to 2 x 18 and 19 darts to become a 5-1 victor over Hallis who responded with a 14 dart leg.

In Group 1 Kirk Bevins had a 15 dart leg plus 124 checkout. Mick Nixon (19-16) beat Daz Mawer (18) 3-1.
Group 2 saw some excellent matches with Chris Thompson (13) defeating Adam Thompson (17) 3-1, Thompson then hit a 12 dart leg including a 180 and 134 finish. John Pickering (21-21 and 122 finish for 18) in a 3-0 win over Cindy Roberts. a 112 checkoutScunthorpe^s Dave Ladley had legs of 17 and 18.
Dave Kerr 13 darts and Rich Corner closed his 12 dart leg on 140 produced the top two legs in Group 3 and Paul Calpin hit a 112 finish.
Group 4 saw Terry Temple hit 2 x 180^s in 21, 17, 16 dart legs to defeat Chris Mathews 3-0 but then went down 3-2 to Tommy Heron (15-17-180 for 21) despite hitting 15 and 17 darts in reply.
In Group 5 Mark Hartley hit 2 x 18 legs and a 116 checkout whilst Nick Harteveld^s 100 checkout plus 2 x 15, 19, 20, 2 x 21 legs plus 2 x 180^s proved too much for his Group 6 opponents.
Ray Macinally^s 120 finish for 15 plus 19 and 17 put and end to Selby^s Tom Elliotts (17) first YDP event 3-1.
In the Plate Competition (for preliminary and first round loosers) Paul Botterill picked up the £50 first prize beating Chris Quantock 3-2 in the final, with Anthony Wort (Leeds) and Lee Mason beaten semi-finalists.
Botterill also reached the final of The Blind Pairs Competition, partnering Simon Rimmington only to loose to the ever consistant Rich Corner and Phil Bowen, semi-finalist were Scarborough^s Julie Wrightson/John Quantock and Shane Warrick/Mike Kaye(Selby)
