David Cops Out as Doggy Doubles Up
Dawson defeated Andy firth 3-1 in the Semi-finals whilst Copley (18-17) beat Jaron Esteve (13) by the same margin.
The 1/4 Finals, all of whom qualify for the Grand Finals in York in January, saw young Lewis Stott (Goldthorpe), who was playing in his first ever darts competition lose 3-0 to Firth (Barnsley, 17-18). Brian Dawson (110 finish) 3 Rab Mckenzie (Barnsley) 0, Mark Wilkinson (Mexbrough) 0 David Copley (Barnsley) 3 and John Taylor (Thurnscoe) 0 Jaron Esteve (Leeds, 15) 3.
Other fast legs came from Firth (18), Dawson (18-15-21), Wilkinson (17) and Esteve in Round One going out in 16-17 and 11 darts.
Further high checkouts were recorded by Dawson 102 and 110, Copley 106, and Mckenzie 119 with 180^s coming from Esteve (3) and one from Daz Mawer (Grimsby) and Taylor.
Brian Dawson made it a double delight when partnering Kev Browne, who hit a 104 finish in the final, to win the Blind Pairs 2-0 over Rab Mckenzie and Richard Jones.
The remaining qualifying stages, all on Saturdays, for the YDP Masters Darts Open are at North Ormesby WMC, Middlesbrough TS3 6EF on 14th December 2013 and then the remaining two qualifiers at Huntington WMC in York on Saturday 21st December 2013 and 11th January 2014.
The Grand Finals are at Huntington WMC in York on Saturday 25th January 2014 where the 64 Qualifiers will battle it out with the overall winner receiving £1,000.
