This years Lakeside World Pro is complicated by some very tough 1st round games and looks to be the most exciting we’ve seen in years.
Top Quarter
Martin Adams has a harder draw than last year with potentially Walton and O Shea to play.
Second Quarter
Looks much more open where Chisnall and Phillips have good draws, but Phillips must win to win the big games by hitting the doubles when it matters.
Phillips had one of the highest averages at the Grand Slam, but still didn’t progress from the group.
Third Quarter
The winner of the Kellet Fitton game will stand a great chance to reach the reach the semis and the rest of the Quarter looks very open indeed.
Although Fitton has not yet shown great form, he has the game and will power to come good when it matters.
Jan Dekker may also be a good outside bet.
Fourth Quarter
Clearly the toughest to call by far and where a Champion could be made. Waites and Hankey is a bad first round draw for both. Winstanley looks good from what little we saw of him at the World Masters with Atkins, Green, Woods and Bunting all potential banana skins for the top guys, and who can forget Andy Bolton who must be playing pretty well to have come through the qualifiers.
Conclusion
All in all it looks one of the most open events for years, which no doubt will see Adams as a strong favourite. However, may not back early this year because of a tough draw.
It will be interesting to see the odds on Waites after his Grand Slam performances, but I think Chisnall will be a good bet at the moment with possibly an outside bet on Dekker if you can get 100-1.
However, some good advice may be just to wait for the first round draw to be complete then make your strategic bets – good luck from the www.dartsdatabase.co.uk
