WILKINSON CUTS THROUGH COSMO QUALIFIER
Carl Wilkinson was the 3rd man to qualify for the Cosmo World Series 2017 final with a brilliant display against a high quality field at Riley's. He beat county star Chris Lacey in the final with both men really punishing the treble bed with a 5-3 final win that lasted less than 10 minutes. Both men hit 3 x 180s each and legs of 12, 13, 15, 15, 15 to add to a couple of scabby 17s in a blistering paced match. Carl won through his group with good wins over Ice Owen Cubitt and Steve Naisbit before hitting a 14/15 dart leg in a 4-1 win over Steve Marfleet. In his return match against Owen Cubitt, who also made it through the group, Carl hit a 12 dart leg and a 138 finish in a 4-1 win over Ice and a semi final win over Ben Dulley in which Wilkie added a 153 checkout to reach the final. Chris who performed just as well before losing out got through a tough group with wins over Andy Friar and Tony Molyneaux, Chris would then meet Jake Rhodes and a high quality game with Greg Beard. Greg hit 13, 15 & 17 dart leg with a maximum and Chris 16, 14 and two maximums. Chris would then beat Tony Molyneaux 4-2 in the semi final after Tony had also qualified from the group and legs of 12 & 13 by Chris were needed to see off the man from Darfield. Tony himself had beaten Kieran Evans 4-1 and Bob Pinder 4-2 to make the last four and would take on Ben for 3rd spot after Ben had got there by beating Sie Simons and Gareth Baxter earlier in the night. Tony was to make 3rd spot with a 2-0 win over Ben. Steve Naisbit was the winner of the plate with a 2-1 win in the final over John Smethurst.
Carl now join Trevor Burkhill and Lee Cushworth in the finals of the CWS

Cosmo World Series held at Riley's was a round robin group tournament with top two going through to the last 16 knockout stage. Group 1 was eventful and contained former champion Trevor Burkhill and he set the way coming out of the group as winner without dropping a leg. Bob Pinder would also go through having seen off the rest of the group. Group 2 went down to a last game as young star Owen Cubitt won his two opening games and so did Steve Marfleet and the two squared off with Steve edging the game 3-2 including a 12 dart leg. Group 3 Kieran Evans stormed through with a cluster of victories and was followed by Martin Sommerton who also threw well all the way. Pete Jacques and Chris Lacey got through the group of death group 4 which also included Greg Beard who was in terrific form all day. Micky Stocks would take group 5 in a last game decider over Trevor Tye who also made it into the knockout round. Ryan Goffin was victorious in his group(6) with another last game decider against Ben Dulley with Ben winning the match of the group 3-2 over the very good Anne Lofthouse. Ady Lindly went into the knockout with a victory over Chris Burd who was top before the game and also made it. Group 8 was won by Adam Warner who didn't drop a leg until he met Charlie Stocks and that game went 3-2 with young Stocks recording a maximum and also went into the knockout round.

Ryan Goffin, Chris Markham & Greg Beard[/caption]
The latest round of the Steel City Championship took place this weekend and it has to be said arguably the best one so far. Greg Beard was victorious winning the final against Ryan Goffin and both men rode a bit of luck as the darts on the night was brilliant. Greg showed his authority straight away with a 11 dart leg in the opening round in a 4-0 win over Anne Lofthouse who is proving to be as good as the come in the female game as she continued to push Greg and force him to produce his best. Greg then hit a 105 out, 180 and legs of 15, 20, 18, 20 in a 4-2 over Chris Markham himself with a 180 also. Greg then hit a 15, 18, 18, 14 with a 120 out to beat Lester Bowers in the semis after Big Red had gone through Paul Brittle and Pat Meeson. Ryan made the final after wins in the opening games over Mick Hulley, John Lieber and Steve Marfleet before before a 4-3 win over Adam Warner after Adam had beaten Antonio Cruz and Tom Blagg. Ryan also was in great spirit ahead of the final with his win over Marfleet was a pure masterclass. Greg hit legs of 16, 20, 19, 18 in the final to take a 4-1 win.
Greg increases his lead to be no.1 seed for the Steel City finals

WOW WHAT A NIGHT IN PIKADO DARTS LEAGUE
[caption id="attachment_21756" align="aligncenter" width="313"]
Barry Brittle[/caption]
We had one hell of a night in the Pikado Liga this week with the dominant Micky Stocks losing out and a game that would rival any seen at the venue before between the Messiah and Ice. We start things off with the game of the season as Owen 'Ice' Cubitt and Brian 'The Messiah' Lewis played out a 4-3 from the very top draw as Ice was on the perfect 9 dart leg. Unfortunately it finished in 16, but he then added a 15, 20 & 16 and 3 x 180s, but Brian not to be outdone fired in a maximum himself and legs of 15, 18, 16 and also a brilliant 160 outshot, WOW what a game of darts that was! It wasn't the only game to include a big finish as Steve Hattersley smashed in a 160 in his win over Mystery Mandy Slack and Kev Jagger powering in a 110 out too but the best was saved till last as Shoots Tom Sawford hit 167 out with a t20, t19 & bull in terrific fashion. Steve Hattersley was one of a few that picked up a double win this week as did Paul Brittle who is climbing fast along with Lee Thomspson. John Lieber was in brill form as he ended Micky Stocks unbeaten run this season with a 4-3 win including a 14 dart leg for John. Lee Slack made a forward move this week with a 7-0 and 6-1 win and wins players of the week. Barry Brittle picked up his first win with a fine 4-3 over Clair Thom. Tony Hirst also played well picking up lots of points as did Lee Thompson.

SLIM SHADEY TAKES STOCKS OF THE SUPERBEAR
Well again showing how tough and open the SDM is we had the 9th of the 2017 season and the 9th different winner so far as Micky Stocks won it in a strong field littered with PDC and other good talent. Micky would make his path through to the final with an opening victory over the up and coming Brad Clowery but Micky hit a 161 out and legs of 14, 16, 12 to win through. Next was Jack Kerr and legs of 13, 18, 17 was good enough too and after a victory over Vaughn Fairclough he then met seasoned player and former champion Bob Pinder going through 4-3 in a very close game that included a hat-full of 180's before beating Jordan in the final. Jordan's path was forged by an opener against John Smethurst before a close game 4-3 with stablemate Steve Marfleet. He would then see off Ian Hendry 4-0 before a close match with local rival Tom Sawford who he has met in many youth championship matches in Sheffield but 1st time in a senior tournament and it went 4-3 to the Superbear. Micky Stocks 12 dart leg in the opening game was the best of the afternoon and his 161 in the same leg was the best outshot also. Steve Hattersley and Micky Stocks tied for most 180s in the afternoon and it is Bob Pinder that still leads the way in the points tally.
