There is only two points of average separating the top two teams in the Shirley and District Monday Night League, Highwood with 34 points remain in pole position after their 7-2 home win over Strawberry Fields while second in the table Crown Jewels who had a similar 7-2 win against Baldwin Bears. However something has to give as the very next fixture will see the two teams square up to each other and with games fast running out the outcome of that fixture could well decide the destiny of the league champion’s silverware.
With only four fixtures remaining it is very unlikely that the title and runners up places will not go to the current top two teams as third placed Shirley Red Lion despite winning 9-0 away to bottom of the table Shirley Spartac are eight points behind the leading duo and for the top two places to change would mean Shirley would have to win their last four and one of the top two lose all of their remaining games.
Full Results:Week 18:- Highwood 7 Strawberry Fields 2, Shirley Spartac 0 Red Lion 9 (Mick Bown), Crown Jewells 7 Baldwin Bears 2, Baldwin 4 Blue Bell 5, Sharmans Cross 3 Shirley Legion 6 (Trevor Carter 180, Mark Gamsby 2x180), Cider House 2 (Sean Tootill 180) Solihull Sports Club 7 (Brian Lawton 180).

Ashwood were the only losers in the top seven teams in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League, their 6-3 home defeat by fourth in the table Brickmakers Arms has seen them drop from second to fifth place putting them on the same 12 points as Ten Arches ‘B’, Brickmakers Arms and Ten Arches ‘A’.
The top two teams Bird ‘A’ and Britannia both took their 100% win record to seven games when in turn they won 6-3 at Shrubbery Cottage and 8-1 away to Queens.
Crestwood moved away from the bottom of the table when they chalked up their second win in six a 5-4 success away to New Inns who drop one place to eleventh.

With no result in from their latest game Court Oak have dropped to second place in the Harborne League but on the same 10 points as new leaders Hillyfields ‘A’ trailing only on average. Hillyfields ‘A’ won their home game against Avenue Flights 8-1 with J.Best hitting a 180 for the hosts and T.Hamilton doing the same for the away team. Third placed Crazy Horses are another team with ten points but like Hillyfields ‘A’ have played six games as opposed to Court Oak who have only five results in so far and remain the only unbeaten team in the league.
There was good news at the other end of the table for Weoley Castle WMC and Avenue Social as they both recorded their first win in five games. Avenue Social’s 6-3 win at the Sportsman saw them move off the bottom and be replaced by their opponents, Weoley Castle had had a 5-4 home win over Abbey.

This week’s results in the Camp Hill League didn’t change the table at all as the top three teams played and won against the bottom three teams, so leaders Cotterills Lane Club stay in pole position with 16 points after their 6-1 win at Lady Westminster and second placed HMS Lions who are also on 16 points but with an inferior average beat Wagon and Horses 5-2, the same margin by which Holy Gulp in third place accounted for Devil’s Club.

Dudley Sports C’ added another win to their tally in the Brierley Hill Monday Night League, an 8-1 victory away to bottom of the table Brickmakers Arms, while second placed Bridge ‘B’ won their home game with third placed High Acres 7-2 but the wins are immaterial as Dudley Sports ‘C’ are league champions and Bridge ‘B’ runners up. The battle for third place is between High Acres and Rose and Crown (Brierley Hill) High Acres losing their advantage by going down to Bridge while Rose and Crown strengthened their position winning 9-0 against Old Star.
