Darts : New Darts Singles League Champion
MURDO ^Griddy^ Macleod is the new Singles League Champion after a nail
biting 4-3 final win over Andy Dowie.
The top four in Division ^A^ would contest the semi finals. In the first semi-final Griddy beat Willie Reid 4-2, courtesy of two consecutive 71 checkouts.
The next semi-final was a repeat of last year^s final, but this time Andy Dowie got his revenge on Dol Norrie Mackay with a comfortable 4-1 win.
Into the final, and Andy hit 2x140^s and checked out on x4 to go 1-0 ahead. In the second leg both players missed big checkouts to take the leg. First Griddy missed a 160 (T20,T20,D20) by a fingernail and then Andy missed a 116 (T20,20,D18) by the same margin, but it was Griddy who won the leg with a x8 finish. Griddy also won the third leg, but Andy had an 84 finish to make it two apiece.
The next two legs went with the throw to set up a decider. Both players
were on a finish but much to Griddy^s relief his dart found the double first, to crown him Singles League Champion for season 2008/9.
