DARTS : Nice one Jamie!!

Darts Standards go through the roof

Top notch – that aptly summed up the Hope & Anchor Premier Darts League inaugural singles tournament in Cardigan when standards went through the roof.

During the competition no fewer than 12 maximums were recorded and 14 legs finished in under 18 darts.

Star of the event was undoubtedly

Winmau Youth World Masters and Red Dragon Darts sponsored finalist Jamie Lewis who was in superlative form throughout. The 17-year-old Wales youth team skipper recorded five 180’s, finished a leg on 122 and had a quite remarkable average of 33.40 – over a hundred per three darts.

At the semi-final stage the teenager accounted for former British doubles champion Lee Drummond 3-0 while in the other semi Wayne Evans came out on top 3-2 in a thriller against Philip John.

The final produced high quality darts with Lewis irrepressible as he won 3-0.

180’s: Jamie Lewis (5); Scott Robinson; Jamie Rees; Wayne Evans; Amber Alberichi; Johnny Kinsella; Philip John; Lee Drummond.

Highest out: Wayne Evans (158).
