Dart-a-Thon III: Eccentricity in EC4 – On the Oche for How Long?!
After last year’s successful 12 hour Dart-A-Thon fundraiser in aid of Marie Curie Hospice, Hampstead, and The Heart of Darts, we have now decided to hold two fundraising events this year.
The first fundraiser will be solely supporting Marie Curie Cancer Care, where "Dangerous" Dave Bateman and "Jolly" Roger Spencer will attempt 36 hours straight on the oche from 11am onwards on 11th June 2009 at The Porters Lodge, 17 Arthur Street, London EC4. We are hoping that, if they don’t end up in the mad house, their time spent chucking arrows will lead them to a world record!
The Westside darts team play out of The One Tun, Saffron Hill, London, and landlords Dave & Caroline have kindly offered their sister pub, The Porters Lodge, as the fundraising venue. Our team has adopted Marie Curie as their preferred charity, and all monies raised will go to the Hospice. Marie Curie Hospices actively promotes quality of life for people with cancer and provides support for their families, completely free. This year, Marie Curie Cancer Care will care for around 25,000 terminally ill patients in the community and at their local hospices and care for almost half of all cancer patients who pass away at home in the UK. These services are provided free to patients and their carers.
All are welcome to come along and support the fundraiser, as we are currently organising a raffle, silent auction, secret auction and various quizzes – and please bring your darts, as there will be opportunities to play matches throughout the event. It is also hoped that a celebrity dart player will be encouraged to make an appearance, but this is a work in progress. We would truly appreciate prize donations at this time and if you would like to make either a financial donation or a prize donation, or find out more about this event, please contact Sandie Poulson on 020 7278 8011.
Details of The Heart of Darts (an Essex-based charity) fundraiser will be released later in the year, a venue in Essex to be confirmed.
