Beaton’s Blog - WEEKEND 11/12TH JUNE-METRODOME BARNSLEY
I had a great run to the Quarter Finals of the Bobby Bourn Memorial Player Championships, held at The Metrodome, Barnsley at the weekend.
In the first round I beat Steve Evans 6-5 in a really close game to start the day, in the second Louis Blundell 6-2, third round Saturday’s winner Paul Nicholson 6-2, fourth round Matt Clark 6-4.
In the Quarter Finals I lost to Mark Hylton 6-5 in another close game. Unfortunately I missed a few doubles, which cost me the match.
I am now in a much better position to qualify for The World Matchplay in Blackpool next month.
There are two Player Championships remaining, which are being held in Nuland, Holland next weekend 18/19th June, before the 32-player field is known, so let’s hope I have a good run there as well.
In the Eddie Cox Memorial Player Championships held on the Saturday, I beat Matt Jackson 6-2 in the first, Shane O’Connor 6-2 in the second and lost to Robert Thornton 6-2 in the third.
Paul Nicholson was Saturday’s Winner beating Steve Brown 6-4 in the final and Andy Smith beat Dave Chisnall 6-2 in the Sunday final.
