Beaton’s Blog - CANADA WEEKEND 27/28TH AUGUST
I travelled to Ontario, Canada at the weekend for two events being held at The Hilton, London, Ontario, needing to do well towards a place in The World Grand Prix in Ireland in October. 158 players entered in to the Saturday’s London Ontario Players Championship.
I played nicely reaching the Quarter Finals.
I drew Andy Hutchings in the first round beating him 6-0, Greg Wright in the second 6-0,Tony Eccles 6-1 in the third, Ronnie Baxter 6-4 in the fourth, but lost to Denis Ovens 6-2 in the Quarters. John Part won the tournament by beating Wes Newton 6-4 in the final.
On the Sunday 141 players entered The Canadian Masters.
In the first round I beat Dave Switzer 6-0, second Nick Holmes 6-1, third Jelle Klaasen 6-5 and then lost 6-3 to John Part in the fourth.
Ronnie Baxter won the Sunday tournament by beating Kevin Painter 6-2 in the final.
I have put myself in a better position for qualification in The World Grand Prix, but need to do well in Derby this coming weekend.
Well done to Ronnie and John for their wins.
Cheers Steve
