Game number two in the Cosmo Darts Premier Division of the UKDA National League saw Lancashire hold on to their number one spot and increase their lead from five to twelve points as they added their latest victory, a 23-13 win away to Warwickshire to their account. As a result of their 20-16 defeat away to Hampshire, Cornwall lost their second place and drop to fourth with Glamorgan moving up four places to replace them after they beat Staffordshire 23-13. Hampshire’s win saw them go from fifth to third on forty points some fourteen off the top.

On the individual scene Dorset’s Ricky King had the top men’s ‘A’ average of 34.55 for his straight 4-0 win over Lincolnshire’s Shane Lowe while Lincolnshire’s Steve Giddings took the men’s ‘B’ award for his 32.87 average in a 4-1 win over James Green. In the ladies games Stacey Ellis (Essex) lifted her ‘A’ team’s trophy for her 3-0 win and 27.33 average over Sara Mortimer while Dorset’s Sarah Chick won the ladies ‘B’ award for her 23.10 average and 3-1 success against  Dawn Armstrong.

In the Andy Wheeler Fisheries Championship Division a 20-16 win away to Hertfordshire keeps London top of the division and sees them extend their lead by two to five points. Northamptonshire lost 20-16 at Kent and drop one place to third with their hosts taking over from them in the number two spot on forty-five points, five more than Kent.

Match award winners for the Championship Division went to Northamptonshire’s Ricky Evans for the men’s ‘A’, his 4-1 win over David Saint giving him a 31.30 average. London took the Men’s ‘B’ and ladies A’ awards with Bhav Patel beating Luke Arber 4-2 with a 27.24 average and Felicia Blay winning 3-0 against Kirsty Bond to win the ladies ‘A’ award for her super 27.33 average. The ladies ‘B’ award went to Cheshire’s Andrea Davis who won 3-0 against West Midlands Kelly Doleman and averaged 20.88.

Its all-change at the top of the L-Style Division One with Gwynedd losing the top spot after going down 23-13 at Gwent, they drop to fifth place on thirty-six points some twelve short of new leaders Black Country who won their game at Suffolk 22-14. Gwent’s win made them the rounds biggest climbers as they leapt up from ninth to second on forty-two points just six behind Black Country and one ahead of third placed Somerset who won 19-17 at Tyne and Wear to see them move up four places in the table.

Top players for game number two in division one saw Suffolk scoop the men’s ‘B and ladies ‘A’ awards as Ashley Coleman with a 29.30 average and 3-2 win over Carl Sparrow won the men’s ‘B’ and Jo Locke with a magnificent 30.06 average defeated Amy-Leigh Tolley 3-0. The men’s ‘A’ award went to Berkshire’s Archie Self who had a 4-1 win over Leicestershire’s Ben Quenby and averaged 31.86 and for the ladies ‘B’ it was Abbie Brewster whose 3-0 success against Sharon Mitchell earned her the award together with her 18.56 average.

Division two has a new team in pole position after former leaders Surrey lost 20-16 away to Norfolk, they are replaced by newly promoted Salopian who won their away game against West of England 21-15 to put them on forty-seven points. Worcestershire were unable to hold on to second place as they drop to third in the table with forty-three points after being held to an 18-18 draw at Middlesex and taking over in the number two spot is Wiltshire who move up two places in the table following their 22-14 win at County Durham which takes their points tally to forty-four, three fewer than Salopian.

Both of the ‘A’ match awards went to Middlesex players, Cam Crabtree taking the men’s award for his 4-1 win and 30.30 average against Andy Pullen while for the ladies ‘A’ it was Vickie Kiely who defeated Zoe Jones 3-2 and averaged 21.94. In division three Breconshire with a 20-16 win at Gloucestershire have extended their lead at the top of the division from two to five points. After game one Cumbria were second in the division but a 24-12 defeat at Wirral has seen them drop down to fifth on thirty-six points, thirteen behind Breconshire. Shropshire, who were third also lost, their 25-11 loss at Northumberland seeing them drop to seventh place with thirty-three points. It has not been a good start to their new campaign in the Cosmo Darts Premier Division of the UKDA National League for the Warwickshire County Darts Organisation as after going down 20-16 away to Cornwall in the opener to the season they followed that with a 23-13 home defeat to leaders Lancashire. This is the first time Warwickshire have lost the opening two fixtures since the 2019-2020 season in what was then the BDO Inter County Darts Championship, they then lost the opener 23-13 at home to Yorkshire and followed that with a similar 23-13 defeat at Cornwall.

The weekend could not have got off to a worse start as the ladies ‘B’ slumped to a 5-1 defeat and it all began so well as Chloe McKivett-Saunders opened up a 2-0 lead against Audrey Underwood and went on to win 3-2 with an award winning average of 21.11, but it was Lancashire that won the next two games 3-0 through Ellen Fletcher and Tracey Cunningham over respective opponents Denise Keyte and Kris Meek to reverse the lead and give the visitors a 2-1 advantage. With Sue Cusick coming from one down against Nina Bolt and go on to win 3-1 the away side were then in an unassailable 3-0 lead and with a 3-1 success for Anne-Marie Millership over Caroline Pike the game was won. The visitors took the final score to 5-1 when Jo Dean beat Kirsty Hinchcliffe 3-2 in the final game.

Samuel Price opened up a 2-0 lead over Mark Roberts in the first of the men’s ‘B’ games but it was Roberts who got the better of the 4-3 result to put Lancashire one up. Three 4-1 wins supplied by Gary Davey, James Lawson and Martin Lomas at the expense of Mark Carter, Dave Redding and Sam Whittaker took the score along to 4-0 in Lancashire’s favour before Warwickshire’s man of the match Will Naylor reduced the arrears with his 4-3 win and 26.45 average against Ryan Robinson. Robinson actually won the first two legs in 17 and 20 darts before Naylor levelled in 17 and 14 darts. Robinson took the lead again in the fifth but with 19 and 18 darts in the last two legs it was Will Naylor who got the 4-3 verdict. By the halfway stage the away side had opened up a 5-1 lead as Andy Chase rounded off the half with his 4-2 win over Martin Tonks.

As the second period got underway Peter Hughes (Warwickshire) stormed back from 3-0 down against Andy Cass to draw level at three each and force a deciding leg, but it was Cass with an eighteen darts leg that won it and the game 4-3. Keeping the hosts in with an outside chance of a draw was Scott Hope his 4-3 win over Kevin Garcia after Garcia had gone 2-1 up reduced the arrears slightly to 6-2. Karl Reynolds won the opening two legs against Pete Day jnr in 18 and 20 darts but Day bounced back to go on and win not only his game 4-2 but at the same time clinch the win for his team mates. Michael Sexton took the scoreline along to 8-2 when he won 4-3 against Mark Martin before the home side had their best run of the game two wins in a row supplied by Adam Hancock and Lee Miller who in turn defeated Lee Wilson 4-3 and Jason Longmate again 4-3 to put the final score at 8-4 to Lancashire.

Sunday’s ‘A’ games saw the ladies get off to a flyer as Donna Pinch opened up with her 3-1 win over Ally Smith after Smith had won the first leg and a lady of the match performance from Natalie Gilbert made it 2-0. Natalie beat Jo Clements 3-2 after trailing 2-0 and took the match award for her superb 26.62 average. Putting a win out of reach for Lancashire was Hannah Meek, her straight 3-0 win over Ellen Fletcher taking the score along to 3-0. With a commanding lead it then all went pear-shaped as Dawn Shaw chalked up Lancashire’s first win when she accounted for Lucy Keyte with a 3-0 result, Jenny Nuttall beat Courtney Hine 3-1 and earning a share of the spoils for Lancashire was Gina Jones who won 3-2 against Marian Conway after Conway had come from 2-0 down to level at 2-2., taking the final score to three each.

With Lancashire starting the day with a 16-8 lead it was going to take a huge 10-2 win from the men’s ‘A’ to earn just a draw and after the opening two games that looked very unlikely as Tom Cromwell won 4-2 against Nigel Heydon and Lee Shewan beat Dave Hill 4-0. Jamie Atkins halved the visitors lead when he came from 1-0 and 3-1 down to Pete Day jnr to go on and win 4-3 only to see the away team restore their two games buffer when Stu Wilson won 4-2 against Jamie Hughes. Gareth Braham was in fine form beating Rob Rickwood 4-2 with winning legs of 12,18,21 and 18 darts and a 28.73 average, Gareth’s team mate Noel Grant going one better when he rounded off the first half with his straight 4-0 win over Nathan Care with a great average of 31.31 wining his four legs in 13,14,22 and 15 darts which included a tremendous 160 checkout in the final leg.

As the second half began Warwickshire took the lead for the first time in the game when Wayne Mynard beat Gary Davey 4-1 and with a 4-2 win for Prakash Jiwa against Gary Jackson a men’s ‘A’ win looked to be on the cards as they now held a 5-3 lead. Prakash Jiwa had a super 28.85 average in his win which was highlighted by his fantastic finishing power checking out on 103,156 and 125 with winning legs of 18,15,15 and 15 darts. Steve Hine went 1-0 up and levelled at 2-2 against Sam Cromwell but it was Cromwell who got the 4-2 result and with a 4-3 win from Dave Airey over Matty Washbrooke the game was all-square at five-five. The last two games of the weekend both finished with 4-1 scorelines going to Lancashire’s Jordan Brooke and David Evans who in turn accounted for Carl Green and Kevin Dowling to take the score to 7-5 to Lancashire and giving them an overall 23-13 win for the weekend.

The win keeps Lancashire in pole position in the Premier division but saw Warwickshire drop from seventh to eighth on twenty-nine points, already twenty-five behind their opponents.

After gaining promotion from division one last season to the Andy Wheeler Fisheries Championship Division, West Midlands had a bye in the opening weekend of the new season and effectively their first game of the new campaign was an away tie against seventh placed Cheshire.

First on for the West Midands ladies ‘B’ was Jacqueline Maiden who made short work of her game with Alex Foulds winning 3-1 with a lady of the match award winning average of 17.55. Tara Simmons-Fullwood took her opponent Julie Whitehouse to a deciding leg but it was Whitehouse who won it to level the game at 1-1. Jane Stubbs gave Cheshire the lead for the first time when she won 3-0 against Claire Hobbs but it was level-pegging again in the fourth after Gemma Barrett beat Lyn Marsden 3-2. The home team forged ahead again in the fifth when Vicky Pruim beat Jodie Rowlands 3-0 and with a 3-2 win for Vicky Martin over Katherine Jenkins in the final game the hosts won 4-2.

The West Midlands men’s ‘B’ could not have hoped for a better start to their new campaign as they stormed into a match winning 8-0 lead and it all began with a straight 4-0 win for John Morris over Karl Windisch. Glen McGrandle doubled the lead when he won 4-2 against Paul Goodwin and taking the team up to the midway point of the game were Chris Stanley, Ryan Locker, Ian Stanton and Mark Craddock who in turn defeated Ash Clarke (4-0), Colin Lewis (4-1), Aaron Ayres (4-1) and Aaron Russell (4-1).

Adam Teasdale kicked-off the second half and his 4-2 win over Rob Williams chalked up the all-important seventh stripe on the board to assure West Midlands of the win. Following Teasdale was man of the match Jack Aldridge whose straight 4-0 win against Michael Blaise earned him the match award for his 26.72 average. Cheshire then got their first winner as Jeff Fisher beat Karl Hughes 4-0 and reducing the arrears further was Shaun Walshe who won 4-2 against Mark Maiden. That however was to be the home teams little joy from the game as Kieran O’Mahoney won 4-1 against Stuart Keller and Neil Pointon added his 4-3 win against Peter Atkinson to complete the 10-2 rout.

The ladies ‘A’ game finished with the same 4-2 result as the ladies ‘B’ and once again going in favour of Cheshire. Getting the hosts out of the starting blocks was Andrea Davis who accounted for Kelly Doleman with a straight 3-0 defeat and with a similar 3-0 result Sarah Goodwin made it 2-0 when she won against Jacqueline Simmons. Stopping the home team’s charge was Crysta Wilcox who won 3-1 against Theresa Cooper only to see Liz Humphries chalk up Cheshire’s third straight 3-0 win when she beat Sarah Maybury. A 3-0 lady of the match show from Shellbie Simmons kept faint hopes of a draw alive for the West Midlands, Shellbie beating Bev Martin with a 17.28 average, but it was not to be as Kirstie Corbett won the final game against Debbie Davies 3-0 to give the home team the 4-2 win and four 3-0 winners.

A 5-7 defeat would now be enough for an overall West Midlands win but there was still obviously pride to play for in every single game and that was shown as West Midlands longest serving player Ian Jones opened up with a 4-2 win over Matthew Shaw. Ash Khayat (West Midlands) took his opponent Keith Croxford to a deciding leg but it was the Cheshire man who got the verdict to level the game. The results continued to go in favour of the first throw advantage as Dean Simmons-Fullwood beat Brad Walker 4-1 to put West Midlands ahead for a second time and also for a second time their lead was cancelled out as Perry Davenport beat Rob Thompson 4-1. Continuing the sequence Scott Baker added his 4-2 win over Mal Barrow to West Midlands tally, Baker clinching the ‘A’ team match award for his 27.98 average. However by the break it was level-pegging at 3-3 as Shaun Wilkinson won 4-2 against Ryan O’Connor.

The first game of the second half saw Cheshire’s Joe Rowland break the sequence as he put his team ahead for the first time in the opening seven games, he won 4-2 against Jon Platt and with a 4-1 win for Andrew Green over Gavin Baker the hosts had forged 5-3 ahead. Two 4-1 wins from Ben Johnson and Owen Maiden against respective opponents Karl Whitfield and Craig Simpson saw West Midlands draw level at 5-5 with two to play. Both of the last two games finished with a 4-2 result, both of them going to Cheshire as Anthony Conroy beat Kevin Bambrick and Darren Downey won against namesake Darren Williams to give Cheshire the 7-5 win but with the overall 19-17 result going to the West Midlands.

The win lifts West Midlands off the foot of the table moving up to eighth place with twenty-two points but importantly from only one game.

The fairy-tale story continues for the Black Country, two promotions in two seasons and now after the opening two fixtures in the L-Style Division one they top the table with forty-eight points and have a lead of six points over second placed Gwent.

Playing away against Suffolk both the ladies ‘A’ and ‘B’ sides finished all-square at 3-3, Saturday’s ‘B’ game seeing Abbey Hunt giving Black Country the early lead when she won 3-1 against Nicky Bradley while another Suffolk Nicky, this time Nicky Doidge levelled the score when she won 3-0 against Lacey Hughes. A lady of the match 3-2 win for Doreen Hunt over Leesa Woollard gave Black Country a second lead, Hunt recording a 15.75 average, but the advantage was once again short-lived as Jean Prewitt beat Natalie Hulson 3-1 and then for the first time in the game Suffolk went ahead as Nadine Leathers beat Angie Carroll 3-2. The game ended at 3-3 with Black Country’s Maxine Prosser winning the final game against Lesley Compton 3-2.

The ladies ‘A’ opened up with a lady of the match performance from Tammy Chance, Tammy beating Sue Waterman 3-0 with a creditable 22.77 average. The remainder of the games all went with the first throw advantage Carly Chenery winning 3-1 against Sarah-Jane Parker to level the score and Chez Allcock restoring Black Country’s lead with her 3-1 win over Stephanie Potter. Chrissie Meikle kept Suffolk in the hunt when she won 3-2 against Maxine Prosser only to see the away side forge ahead for a third time when Heather Wright defeated Lauryn Salter 3-2. With the result hinging on the final game Jo Locke assured the hosts of a share of the spoils with a 3-0 win over Amy-Leigh Tolley, the final score 3-3.

Adam Howard gave Suffolk the opening win in the men’s ‘B’ match as he accounted for Ben Hollowood with a 3-2 result. However, the home side’s lead didn’t last long as second on for Black Country Jamie Barrowman won 3-0 against Andy Meikle and with a similar 3-0 win for Liam Kelly over Wayne Hammond the away side were 2-1 up. The lead was stretched to 3-1 when John Green beat Ash Ling 3-0, Green collecting the team’s match award for his 28.36 average. From what looked like a comfortable lead the score at the halfway mark was all square at three each after Ashley Coleman won 3-2 against Carl Sparrow and Wayne Bugby won 3-1 against Sam Bissell.

As the second half got underway the first five games of the scheduled six all went in favour of the first thrower with Black Country taking the lead three times through Connor Whitehouse, Mark Jones and Gareth Johnston who in turn defeated Jason Stalker (3-2), Gareth Randell (3-1) and Dan Brown (3-1). Replying for Suffolk were Aaron Hammond with a 3-2 win over Alan Hickinbottom and Jordan Gissing who won 3-1 against Wayne Hobday to leave the outcome of the match all-dependant on the result of the final game between Stuart Greenhalgh (Suffolk) and Al Smith. A 3-1 success for Smith gave Black Country the 7-5 win.

The men’s ‘A’ team were once again in top form as they stormed to an unbeatable and winning 7-0 lead. Chalking up the opening seven wins were George Willetts, Paul Wells, Shane Price, Dan Homer, Martin Price, Dan Nicholls and Trev Brennan who in turn accounted for Stewart Thompson (4-1), David Ballard-Flatt (4-0), Ben Poulton (4-0), Rob Warman (4-3), Andrew Craine (4-3), Paul Woods (4-2) and Ian Randles (4-3). It was game number eight before the home team put their first stripe on the board, Jason Elvin winning 4-0 against Alex Howells. Then doubling Suffolk’s score was Curtis Hammond who won 4-1 against Jamie Rollinson. Jamie Barrowman made it 8-2 in favour of the Black Country when he won 4-1 against Kevin Leathers and although Andrew Craine added a third for Suffolk when he beat Mark Jones 4-3 the final score was taken to 9-3 in favour of Black Country when their man of the match Rich Bowen handed out a straight 4-0 defeat to Gary Butcher to clinch the award with a 29.04 average.

The final score for the men’s ‘A’ was a 9-3 win and the overall result for the weekend a 22-14 victory for the Black Country.

---------------------------------

After gaining promotion from division three of the UKDA National League  last season life in division two is obviously suiting Salopian as they followed up their opening 20-16 win over Clwyd with an away win against West of England which has them top of the divisional table.

Salopian didn’t have the best of starts in Saturday’s games as the ladies despite fighting back from 3-0 down to 3-2 then lost 4-2. Karen Brown and Gail Dent were the first two on for West of England both of them wining 3-0 in turn against Sue Lane and Anna Peatroy and making up the first three winners for the home team was Sheridan Chapman who won 3-1 against Molly Atter. Lady of the match for the away side was Kate Titley. On a number four Kate won 3-1 against Kelly Marshall with a 15.16 average and then keeping hopes alive for a draw was Rachael Mooney who beat Emma Smythe 3-2. A draw was just not to be as the final game went to the hosts,  Danielle Whitehead winning 3-1 against Danni Pritchard.

Although it was West of England who won the opener in the men’s ‘B’ game when Wayne Allen had a narrow 3-2 win over Dave Boyle the lead was short-lived as Steven Ritchie and Jason Davies both won 3-2 against respective opponents Will Jefferies and Mike Knapman to put the visitors 2-1 in front. Parity was restored in the fourth with a 3-1 win for Ben Hopson over Eddie Austin and the hosts then went ahead for a second time in the fifth with a 3-0 win for Clive Strong over Jason Evans. By the midway point of the game it was level pegging as Salopian’s man of the match Ian Evans accounted for Dave Kierman with a 3-1 result, Ian recording a 25.78 average.

It was first blood to Salopian as the second half kicked-off, their Dean Rogers beating Neil May 3-2, then by the same scoreline Salopian debutant James Jenkins was unfortunate to lose out in a last leg decider to West of England man of the match Josh Allen (23.03) before Rowan Price secured his first Salopian win beating Gary Grimmitt 3-1 to put the visitors 5-4 up. Jon Rogers (West of England) had a 3-1 win over Jay Adams and with a further 3-1 win for his team mate Nick English against Martin Riggs the home side were within an ace of victory. Nevertheless a win for the home team was not to be as James Mansell, with a straight 3-0 success over Jamie Harvey, ensured a second successive 6-6 result for the Salopian men’s ‘B’ team.

Once again it was Steph Clarke who opened for the Salopian ladies ‘A’ team, her 20.27 average and 3-1 win over Jayne Fitzgerald earning her the lady of the match award. From one up the away team then trailed 2-1 as Sam Lloyd beat Emma Tapp 3-0 and Abbie Chappell won 3-1 against Claire Boyle. Two consecutive 3-1 wins supplied by Evonne Taylor and Sarah Roberts against their respective opponents Mev Kelly and Zoe Hall took Salopian into a 3-2 lead and although Tracey Dean (Salopian) took Emma Bowles to a deciding leg it was the West of England player that got the 3-2 result to put the final score level at 3-3.

Gary Crowther gave Salopian’s men’s ‘A’ the ideal start when he beat Marcus Knapman 4-1 but a man of the match performance from Matt Jackson (27.29) and a 4-3 win over Shaun Pryce saw the game levelled at one each. That was to be the only winner West of England had in the first half and indeed in the next eight games as Eddie Price and Terry Nash in turn won 4-2 against Tony Smith and Simon Lloyd, Mark Crutchley had a straight 4-0 success against Mark Jones and taking the score to 5-1 in Salopian’s favour at the break was John Roberts with his 4-2 win over Mike Davis.

A 4-0 win for Matt Elsey over Andy White continued the winning run before the away side found their man of the match in game eight in the form of Ash Hilditch, who in his 4-1 win over Dan Raby he averaged 28.67 and at the same time chalked up the vital match winning seventh stripe on the board. Jamie Kynaston was taken the full distance by Lee Harris before winning 4-3 and with a 4-2 win for Ben Morgan over Josh Maddocks the away side were well and truly home and dry with a comfortable 9-1 lead. In the penultimate game  Martyn Lansdown registered a second win for the hosts as he won 4-2 against Jon Mansell but the final game went to Ben Bevan, a 4-3 success over West of England’s Harry Robinson to give Salopian men’s ‘A’ their second successive 10-2 victory.

The overall 21-15 Salopian victory for the weekend took their points tally from the first two fixtures to 47 and gives them a three lead on second placed Wiltshire who won 22-14 at County Durham.

---------------------------------

After an opening 19-17 home win over Gloucestershire in division three of the UKDA National League, Shropshire were faced with an away tie against Northumberland and the weekend did not start well as the ladies ‘B’ slumped to a 6-0 defeat. Wins from Mary Pattison, Ang Turnbull, Sarah Higgins, Angela Best, Michaela Herdman and Marie Silk gave the home side the clean-sweep as in turn they accounted for  Kelly Millington (3-2), Trish Ball (3-1), Deana Sheldon (3-1), Gemma Smith (3-0), Joanne Meachin (3-2) and Kirstie Millington (3-0).

Saturday got no better as the men’s ‘B’ also lost, they went 1-0 down with a 3-0 win from Davy Wilson over Dave Bayton in the opening game and although Clark Cook (23.48) levelled the score with his man of the match 3-1 win over Dale Graham and Paul Penfold then gave Shropshire a 2-1 lead when he beat Dean Stackhouse 3-1, by the midway point the hosts had opened up a 4-2 lead with 3-2 wins from Bruce Smith and Oliver Haughan over respective opponents Rob Pitt and Andy Vellender plus a 3-1 success for their Ian Burt over Jon Blakemore.

Rob Pierce momentarily reduced the arrears as the second session began when he beat Dan Hallowell 3-2 before the home team stormed into a winning 7-3 lead with wins from Paul Richardson 3-1 against Andre Knox plus 3-2 wins for Tony Taylor and Gary Reed against Jamie Webb and Brett Cooper. With the game lost Shropshire’s Chris Evans and Ant Whitehouse made the result a little more respectable when in turn they won 3-2 against Russ Wood and 3-1 against Danny Oman giving a final result of 7-5 to Northumberland.

The ladies ‘A’ team provided the only consolation prize of the weekend for Shropshire as they earned a creditable 3-3 draw after trailing 2-0. Lisa Barnes gave Northumberland the head start when she won 3-1 against Nicola Ball, Phonsawan Whillis doubling the home sides lead when she beat Jenna-Louise Ball 3-0. Marie Riggs went to a deciding leg with Sara Gowens and won it to give Shropshire their first stripe on the board and with a similar 3-2 win for Sarah-Louise Williams over Debbie Waugh parity was restored at two each Becky Harris turned on a lady of the match performance against Iyla Leightley winning 3-2 with a 17.88 average and at the same time giving the away team the lead for the first time and the opportunity to win the game. Alas a win was not to be as Casey Stephenson had a 3-1 win against Michele Pritchard to see the result finish level at 3-3.

On at number one for Shropshire in the men’s ‘A’ game was Josh Pickett who went down 4-3 to Lee Harrison, Micky Ord made it 2-0 when he beat Mark Jones 4-1 before Sam Aitkens stopped the Northumberland charge when he won 4-1 against Andy Parks. However the two games buffer was restored for the hosts in the very next game when Billy Leonard handed Chris Fox a 4-0 whitewash. Extending Northumberland‘s lead to 4-1 was Chris Harvey who won 4-3 against Andy Jervis and taking the hosts into the break with a 5-1 lead was Ryan Branley as he accounted for Reece Cook-Lucas with a 4-1 result.

Northumberland opened up a 6-1 lead as the second half began, their Paul Sinclair accounting for Adam Thackray with a 4-1 result before Shropshire’s man of the match Richard Parker added his 26.91 average and 4-2 win over Steve Robertson to their account to pull one back for the visiting team. The arrears were reduced even further in the ninth when Phil Clarke made it 6-3 with a 4-1 win over Doug Thoburn but alas that was to be the last winner for Shropshire as Daniel Stephenson beat Simon Mountford 4-3, Lee Shanks won 4-1 against Brian Hickman and rounding off a 9-3 win for Northumberland’s men’s ‘A’ was Mark Stephenson who won 4-0 against Paul Harrison.

The final result for the weekend was a 25-11 win for Northumberland which saw them move up four places in the divisional table to third on 43 points, six short of leaders Breconshire while Shropshire went in the opposite direction from third to seventh with a total of 33 points.
