Warwickshire v Lancashire Warwickshire County Darts Organisation will get 2018 underway with a premier division home fixture in the BDO Inter County Championships when the take on Lancashire at the Bishopsgate Club, Foleshill Road, Coventry, CV1 4JJ this coming weekend. After the opening four games to the season Warwickshire have only won once which was against neighbouring West Midlands and will be keen to add to that win when they entertain Lancashire but it will be a tough game as their opponents are second in the table on 99 points with Warwickshire lying in sixth position and trailing their opponents by some 28 points. A repeat of last season’s result against Lancashire 19-17, or better, would be the ideal start for the last five games of the season Lining up for Warwickshire will be Men’s ‘A’:- Jamie Hughes, Dean Stewart, Kevin Dowling, Mark Westgarth, Noel Grant, Antony Allen, Ian McFarlane, Tom Aldridge, Nigel Heydon, Prakash Jiwa, Steve Hine, Anthony West, Men’s ‘B’:- Tom Ryan, Simon Power, James Hykin, Carl Green, Ian Shaw, Karl Reynolds, Charlie Symons, Ashley Hykin, Rob Comben, Mark Carter, Mark Strong, Richard Foster, Reserves:- Ted Evetts, Tom McGlone, Matt Edgar, Luke Kennedy, Adam Paxton, Jack Wareing, David Hill, Women’s ‘A’:- Donna Pinch, Sue Gulliver, Natalie Gilbert, Marian Conway, Kat Spanswick, Nina Bolt, Women’s ‘B’:- Caroline Pike, Melanie Jones, Angela Jones, Wendy Adams, Lisa Deslandes, Chloe McKivett, Reserves:- Ann Rogers, Denise Keyte, Helen Rigg.
Shropshire v Bedfordshire This coming weekend Shropshire will be playing hosts to Bedfordshire in what will be the mid-season fixture in division four of the BDO Inter County Championships. Without a win in their opening four games the hosts will be hoping to get off the mark in this their latest fixture, a vital game if they are to move away from their next to bottom of the table position as they will be lining up against the team directly above who are twelve points to the good on 69 compared to Shropshire’s 57. Not only would a win reduce the arrears on their visitors but would boost the confidence throughout the team ready for their next fixture which is against high riding Buckinghamshire who are currently second in the promotion table on the same 104 points as leaders Somerset. With confidence at a low a win would be just the tonic to set them on their way as they have a real test in the following game which is an away tie against second in the table Gloucestershire who with 90 points are level with leaders Humberside. With only four fixtures remaining after the Tyne and Wear game Derbyshire need to quickly chalk up some winning points if they are to avoid dropping from division one to division four in just three seasons. West Midlands v Yorkshire With two wins, a draw and only one defeat West Midlands are enjoying a fine start in the Premier Division of the BDO Inter County Championships but this coming weekend they will have a real test to life in the top flight when they play hosts to reigning champions and current table toppers Yorkshire.
