The Boat are champions of division one of the Four Oaks and District Winter League following a final 6-3 win over Pint Pot Flights. Boldmere St Mikes also ended their campaign with a 6-3 win beating The Boot to take the runners-up spot finishing two points short of Boat. The Fox had already won the division two title and suffered a 6-3 defeat in their final game against Erdington Arrows, the win seeing Arrows finish as runners-up as they replaced St Thomas’s Social Club in the number two spot, defeat for Arrows would have given the Social Club second place. In the third division Rosey Mac’s were pushed all the way by Oscott Sports for the title but a 6-3 victory against Lad in the Lane saw them take the divisional title with 22 points, two more than Oscott Social. As from next season the Shirley Premier League will be taking on a new name and will be known as the Shirley Legion Double Top League. Until the new thirteenth season gets underway on the 2nd May a series of weekly knockouts will be staged and in the latest singles event the eventual winner was John Smyth. Smyth kicked off the evening with a 3-0 win over Dan Farr and then got the better of Thomas Bent with a close 3-2 verdict. In the quarters he won 4-1 against Antony Daly before taking part in the closest of semi-finals, beating Craig Clarke 4-3, Craig having had one dart to win the game. From the other half of the draw Andy Hoy reached the final, he had a bye in round one then won 3-1 against Jordan Ottley. In the quarter finals Hoy had a 4-2 win over Tony Daly and then booked his final place with a very narrow 4-3 win against Dave Heighway who had numerous darts at finishing doubles to win the game. The final was another very close affair going to a deciding leg which was won by John Smyth to give him a 4-3 victory over Andy Hoy. A 6-1 win away to the Dingle saw Avenue Social move another step nearer the Kings Norton League title as they took their points tally to 40 from 21 games and maintained their two points lead with a game in hand over second in the table Rubery RBL who were 5-2 winners away to Thurlestone. Coppice in third place suffered a somewhat surprising 4-3 defeat away to Weoley Hill who are some twelve points and six places behind them, also fourth in the table West Heath were another team to fall behind in the title race as they lost 5-2 at home to Bournbrook who are eighth in the table and have ten points fewer than their hosts. Week eight in the Camp Hill League saw Emerald Club chalk up their first win in seven games as they won their home tie with Wagon and Horses 4-3. Leaders Roost Rebels had a convincing 6-1 success away to Station Wagon to make it seven straight wins and open up a four point’s advantage over second placed Tyseley WMC who lost their home game with fifth placed White Swan Nomads 6-1. The Small Heath League had their Doubles Knockout on the fixture card with league leaders East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association supplying three of the last four pairs. In the all E.B.A.H.A. clash Lorna Wyatt and Paul Webster lost by the odd leg 2-1 to Colin Wyatt and Nigel Davis while with the same scoreline Matt Cooper and Neil Parsonage beat the Sheldon Marlborough Arrows pairing of Mick Tilley and John Phipps. As in the semis the final was another three legs affair with Matt Cooper and Neil Parsonage just getting the 2-1 edge on their team mates Colin Wyatt and Nigel Davis. The Shirley and District Monday Night League have got their new season underway and it’s last season’s third placed Wharf who are the early leaders after an 8-1 home win over Shirley Spartac. The Bears and the Lodge are not far behind Wharf after in turn wining 7-2 against respective opponents Bluebell and Saracens Jesters and just one further leg behind with 6-3 wins are Dunky’s Boys, Plume of Feathers and HSDT who in turn defeated reigning champions Highwood, Legion Royals and Sharmans Cross. High Oak continue to impress in the Brierley Hill Monday Night League a 7-2 win at Dudley Sports ‘A’ taking their unbeaten run to ten games and giving them a two points lead over second in the table Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘A’ who handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their visiting team King William. Third in the league Roebuck are on the same 18 points as Ex Serviceman’s ‘A’ but trail on average, their latest fixture saw them win 8-1 against Wombourne Pool Bar. The top two teams in the Silver End Sunday Morning League Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club and Woodside kept their 100% win records intact as in turn they won 7-1 at Brickmakers Arms ‘A’ and Three Crowns to make it six successive wins. Dudley Sports with a 6-2 success at Old Star hold on to third place and keep within one win of the top two teams. Glasscutters ‘B’ are the only other team to have won all of their fixtures so far but have only played four games and had a bye in week six. Brickmakers Arms ‘B’ not only lost for the first time in six games in the Cradley Tuesday Night League when they went down 5-4 at home to Netherton Sports and Social ‘A but also lost pole position to their ‘A’ side whose 7-2 win at Roost puts them top of the table on average from their ‘B’ team and also Netherton Sports and Social ‘A’ who are now joint second with Brickmakers Arm’s ‘B’. The Plough moved off the foot of the table as they recorded their first win in six when they won 5-4 at home against Gate Hangs Well who as a result have dropped to the bottom position. With only five fixtures remaining in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League Brickmakers Arms have one hand on the winner’s silverware as their latest 8-1 home win over Kingswinford Conservative Club ‘A’ gives them an eight points lead over second in the table Ten Arches ‘A’ who lost 5-4 to their third placed ‘B’ team who are now level on 66 points with their rivals and only trail on average. With Brickmakers now odds on to take the title the battle for the runners-up spot will be fought out between the two Ten Arches teams. Only two of the eleven teams in the Shadow League won this week, Hare and Hounds ‘B’ beat Kingswinford Conservative Club ‘B’ 8-1 and Hop House won 5-4 at The Swan. The Bell extended their undefeated run in the Rowley Monday Night League to ten games with a 6-3 win over Loyal Lodge who drop to the bottom of the table as Wonder, who were previously bottom of the table, chalked up their second win in ten when they won 5-4 away to Hare and Hounds who are six places above them in the table. Ivy Bush kept within two points of the leaders with a close 5-4 verdict at Ex Serviceman’s ‘B’ who are just three places off the foot of the table, while third placed George who are four points off the top were the league’s biggest winners of the week recording a 9-0 victory over Bulls Head. Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club took their points to a perfect 18 from six games in the Netherton Thursday Night League with a resounding 8-1 win at White Horse. The win keeps the Ex Serviceman’s Club three points ahead of second placed Bulls Head who were 7-2 winners over Townsend Social Club. Bulls Head in turn are one win to the good on their nearest rivals Riddins Tavern who had a 6-3 home win over fourth in the table Fairfield. There was a first win in six for Netherton Conservative Club, their 8-1 success over Saracens Head lifting them off the foot of the table to be replaced by their opponents. Very little change in the Sedgley and Goral Tuesday Night League table after all of the top six teams won in week 22. With just four more games to play Old Bulls Head lead the field, their 7-2 win over Red Cow keeping them two points ahead of second placed Gornal Labour Club who won 6-3 away to Pensnett Liberal Club. After the top two there is a gap of six points to third in the table Coseley Tavern after they also won 6-3 in their game at White Lion, but with so few fixtures remaining the title now looks almost certain to go to one of the top two teams. The Pip Club League played off the finals of their John Young Challenge Cups for division one and two. In the division one final unbeaten league leaders Bombay Bob’s Boys lost out to second in the division Belgrave Sports and Social Club, Adam Wood notching a maximum for Bombay and Daz Jones doing the same for Belgrave. The division two title went to Globe (Wilnecote) with Pip Club the runners-up. Again there was a maximum for both teams supplied by Mark Faulkner (Globe) and Ash Luckman (Pip). With leaders of the Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League Tipton Sports having a bye, second in the table Vine took full advantage to replace them in pole position with a 7-0 win over Horseley Tavern taking them to 18 points, two more than Tipton Sports who have two games in hand. Miners Arms remain in third place after a 5-2 win over New Talbot and are on the same 16 points as Sports but from two more games. Dewdrop ‘A’ moved up three places in the table to fourth after their 5-2 win over Merry-Go-Round who dropped three places to eighth. One leg of average is the difference between the top two teams in the Brierley Hill Friday Night League after the opening five games. High Oak’s 6-1 win over Gornal British Legion sees them replace Brickmakers Arms ‘A’ in pole position after the former leaders had a closer 4-3 win over Miners Arms, both of the top two teams have won all five games so far. Two points behind the leading duo comes Netherton Cricket Club ‘A’ whose 7-0 win at Delph Bell moved them up one place and their opponents down two to fifth. Both of the top two teams in the Henley and District Winter League won 7-2 in game number eleven, leaders Studley Cricket Club beating Dorridge to stay two points ahead of Studley Conservative Club who won away to Wythall RBL. After the two leading teams there is already after so few games a gap of six points to third in the table Dorridge. Allen’s Sports Bar ‘A’ made it 27 wins from 28 games in the West Midlands Men’s Super League when they won the local derby with their ‘D’ side 5-0. The win takes Allen’s ‘A’ points tally to 169 and gives them a lead over second placed Yeltz Bar of 13 points after Yeltz won 3-2 away to Bridgtown. A further eight points adrift in third place is Woodside Inn who also had a close 3-2 verdict away to Allen’s Sports Bar ‘C’. Riley’s ‘C’ and Railway both took their unbeaten run in the singles division of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League to five games when Riley’s won 6-1 at home against Wednesfield Legion and Railway, who also had a home tie, beat Bull. Riley’s ‘C’ top the table with a better average than Railway the two teams now having two points more than third and fourth placed Bull and Wednesfield Legion plus the added advantage of having played one game less than their rivals. Five teams, Wednesfield Conservative Club, Bull, Jones Road, Railway and Riley’s ‘C’ are all on 8 points at the top of the doubles league but The Bull have played one game more than the other four teams.
