It seems that the leadership of the Minworth Social Individual League changes from week to week and this weeks man to hold pole position is reigning champion Dave Shorthouse. Shorthouse has regained the number one spot after his 3-0 win against Dawn Barnes and 2-1 success over Darren White in which he hit a maximum. Richie Shenton, with 91 points is two adrift of Shorthouse after suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Darren White, both players hit a 180 in the match. Shentn then recovered and beat Derek Fardon 3-0.
High finishes were the name of the game in the tie between Tony Whitehouse and Steve Cain. Whithouse won the tussle 2-1 with outshots of 139 and 108. Cain won his leg with a 133 checkout. Dawn Barnes notched a 180 against Mick Smith but unfortunately went down 3-0. Other maximums were supplied by Mark Slater, Alan Mayell and Derek Fardon.

Midland Red continue to dominate division one of the Harborne 401 Summer League as they extended their unbeaten run with an 8-1 success at Lickey Banker. The Red’s were in red hot form as P.Brotherton recorded 160 and 120 breaks,140,105,3x100 and 111 finish and there were 180’s from T.McGlone and M.Holyoake. A ten darts game from T.Parsons helped Raven to a 6-3 win over Hillyfields.
In division two leaders Kings Highway lost their first match of the campaign. Not only their first defeat of the season, but their first in two seasons. Village Stump, with a 5-4 result were the team to end Highway’s tremendous run of wins. Second placed Stores kept the pressure on the leaders with an emphatic 8-1 home win over Avenue Social.

There were wins for the two top teams in the Small Heath Summer League as leaders Black Horse beat Custard House ‘B’ 6-3 and second placed Sheldon Heath Flights won their home fixture against Custard House ‘A’ 7-2. Both teams have 14 points but Black Horse have played eight games to Sheldon’s seven.
Bottom team Red Hill chalked up a rare victory, their first of the season a 5-4 home win against Montgomerys.

There was a surprise for Red Arrows in division ‘A’ of the Forest of Arden Summer League as they went down 7-3 at the Sheldon Heath Social Club. Hobs Meadow got the better of their local rivals Hobs Meadow Mixes as they handed out a similar 7-3 defeat. Highwood had a 7-3 success at home to Solihull Borough Flights, the scoreline was expected to be much closer.
In division ‘B’ Cock and Hens won 6-4 in their match with Acocks Green RBL, league secretary Pat Whing was Hens top scorer with 140.

It has not been a good week for the Brunswick Club in division one of the South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League. First they lost by the narrowest of margins, 4-3 away to Tascos ‘B’, then playing at home they went down by the same scoreline to Dingle Social Club.
In division two Northfield Wanderers were top scorers with their 5-2 win at Bournbrook Flights, while in the third division it was Bournbrook Arrows who chalked up the biggest win, a 6-2 home success against Northfield Conservative Club.
