Hobs Meadow rounded off a title winning season with a 6-3 victory at the Poachers Pocket. However, there were a few anxious moments, as after taking a 1-0 lead they found themselves trailing 2-1 and then on level terms after playing six games. Runners up Silver Wings also finished on a high beating Warwick Aero 7-2. Third place went to Red Arrows who were top scorers on the last day of the season, an 8-1 result against the Old Bill and Bull.

In division one of the Harborne 401 Summer League Midland Red, with a 160 break by G.Smith defeated Lickey Banker 6-3, while the George proved to be too strong for Hobsons Choice, running out 8-1 winners, A.Stevens helping them on their way with an eleven darts game. Biggest win went to the Raven who handed out a 9-0 whitewash to Hillyfields.
Kings Highway continue to impress in division two as they hammer Village Stump 8-1, T.Johnson hitting a 180, Coronation Club won by a similar margin in their fixture with Stonehouse Ladies.

A final reminder that the Harborne and District Winter League will be holding their AGM this coming Sunday at the Stonehouse, Stonehouse Lane, at 11-00am. Anyone interested in entering a team for the 2001-2002 season should attend this meeting.

The “Ace of Clubs” Charity team have been in action taking on representative teams from both the Caledonian Corks and Fairfield Football Club. In the “Cale Corks” match a total of £202 was raised for the Acorns Hospice, Selly Oak, the charity team running out 9-6 winners thanks to B.Johnson (2), C.Lucas (2), P.James, B.Andrews, J.Lucas, M.Jennings, P.Collier. For the hosts D.Cockayne, H.Holmes, M.Dunn, M.Dalton, Brenda and R.Foxson.
In the game at Fairfield the charity team won again, this time 9-3 and receiving the £83 raised by the match will be the Air Ambulance. Winners for the Ace of Clubs were B.Johnson, J.Lucas, B.Andrews, J.Webster, V.Byrne, C.Lucas, L.Newcombe, A.Bourne and J.Warner, for the Fairfield, S.parry, J.Hodgkiss and J.Peplow.

Following his four maximums in the Minworth Social Individual League last week, Scott Mitton hit another this week in his fixture with Steve Hine. However, Mitton was bought back down to earth as Hine beat him 3-0.Reigning champion Dave Shorthouse continues in winning ways with a 2-1 success against Trevor Frost even though Frost hit a 180. Dawn Barnes also chalked up another win, a result over Richie Baker.
Hitting 180’s were Mick Bagley, Adrian Hammersley, Steve Brindley, Jim Frost, Richie Shenton and Paul Burnham.

Despite taking a 3-1 lead over Selly Oak Flights in division one of the South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League, Kings Norton RBL had to wait for a 2-0 success from anchor man Charlie O’Neill over Ralph Lane before securing their 4-3 win. Reigning champions Stirchley United WMC had a comfortable 5-2 win in their home tie with Tascos ‘B’.
In division two Bournbrook Flights stormed to a 4-0 lead in their game at Tascos Flights, which turned out to be very fortunate as the home team fought back to win the three remaining games. Division Three’s Karl Ind (Bournbrook Arrows) was in fine form as he recorded a ten darts leg in his side’s 6-1 win over Moseley Cricket Club.

The Sheldon and District Winter League will be playing off the last sixteen of the doubles knockout at the Sheldon Heath Social Club on Thursday at 8-30pm.
