Lickey Banker, with a 160 break from T.Cahill proved to be too good for Stonehouse Flights in the quarter finals of the Harborne 401 Summer League’s and ran out 8-1 winners. Despite a 180 from P.Hewitt, Hillyfields still went down 7-2 to the Raven. It was a similar story with Highlander’s D.Marshall. He hit a maximum as his team went out of the competition losing 6-3 to Ladywood Social. But a 180 by Midland Red’s D.Bourne helped his side to a close 5-4 success over Village Stump.
The draw for the semi-finals to be played on Wednesday 19th September are, Lickey Banker v Midland Red, to be played at the Hillyfields and Ladywood Social v the Raven at Hobsons Choice.

Richie Shenton continues to impress in the Sportsmans Rest Double Top League. Two further 3-0 wins over Derek Fardon and Tom Dillon has given Shenton a total of 69 points and extended his lead at the top of the table to twelve points over his nearest rival Dave Platt. Platt had a 3-0 success against Kevin Platt. Tom Dillon hit two maximums in his 3-0 win over Paul Cummings. John Ainsworth and Kevin Platt hit a 180 each.
In the first round of the league’s doubles knockout Pat Koyce and Rob South had a close 4-3 win over Tony Pedley and Dave Platt, while Lance Thompson and Trevor Frost beat Tom Dillon and Derek Fardon 4-2.

Sheldon Heath Flights handed out a 9-0 whitewash to Red Hill in the Small Heath Summer League to maintain their pole position with 20 points. Second placed Saltley Flights won 6-3 at Custard House ‘B’ and remain tw points adrift of the leaders.

Red Lion ‘A’ (Wilnecote) began their campaign in division one of the Longwood Winter League with a terrific 8-0 win over White Swan (Kingsbury). Biggest win in the second division was supplied by the Progressive Club, who with a 7-2 result accounted for Red Lion ‘B’ (Wilnecote).
Mercian are struggling to field a full team, anyone interested in joining them for a game of darts in the Longwood league, with matches being played on Thursdays, should contact Alan on 0796-86586.

Peter Brotherton with hot shots of 2x100,100 break and 180 was in top for Austin Sports and Social as they beat Dingle Social 5-2 in division one of the South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League. Brunswick’s P.Corbett checked out on 130 in a nine darts leg. However, his team still lost 5-2 at Selly Oak Flights. As a result Brunswick have now lost all twelve of their matches played so far.

Hobs Meadow, leaders of division ‘A’ of the Forest of Arden Summer League were in super form this week with no fewer than three players chalking up a 160 break, P.Butler, M.Benson and N.Harris. Hobs Meadow Mixes had scores of 180 by R.Taylor and A.Smith, nevertheless it was not enough for them to avoid a 6-4 defeat at the Highwood.

Warwickshire have busy with their youth and ladies Winmau World championship paly off’s.The winner of the youth competition was James Sanson who defeated Andrew Howarth 3-2 in the final. James will now go forward to the next round at Lakeside on Friday 30th November.
Lesley Newcombe won the ladies event with Noreen Harris runner up. Lesley will travel to Trentham Gardens, Stoke on Trent in November for the next round.
