A Look Back in Time - 26.10.2005
The Brook Meadow Individual League have completed their league fixtures and the new champion is Mark Birch with a total of 130 points, four more than the runner up and reigning champion Robbie Earl. Birch rounded off the season in style as he played three outstanding games, beating Terry Blakemore and Paul Hogan in three straight legs and Andy Smith 2-1. The title had been a battle all season between the two top players, which was shown up with the huge gap to the third place where Keith Kelly had 99 points.
The league have also played off their singles and doubles competitions and the man to take the well deserved honour of the title is Bill Cadby. Bill produced a cracking 3-0 win in the quarter finals taking out Robbie Earl. Then after beating the league runner up he took on the league champion Mark Birch in the final and won 3-1.
There are new names also on the doubles silverware as John Whitehouse and Alan Smith lifted the crown with a final 3-1 success over Mark Elkin and Peter Stevens.

The Four Oaks and District League began the week with five teams unbeaten in the opening two games, that has now been reduced to three. Leaders Good Hope Flights had a close 5-4 win at Old Oscott Arrows, the remaining top four teams played against each other. Second in the table Hardy Spicer travelled to Kingstanding Ex Servicemen’s, who were fourth. The home side won 6-3, went up one place in the table and Hardy Spicer dropped to fourth. Old Oscott WMC were in third spot until they lost 7-2 to fifth placed Midland Red and as a result are now fourth and the Red’s have leapt into second place.
On the individual front there were nine darts games for A.Stainfield (Kingstanding Ex) who recorded two and P.Allen (Anvil Nomads).

Barmy Army handed out a 7-0 whitewash to Red Lion Flights in the G.U.L.P. Charity League to move them into pole position by just two legs of average from the Tigers, who had a close 4-3 verdict at the Red Devils. The Tribe kept the pressure on the top two with their 6-1 home success against Radley Rebels.

It’s neck and neck at the top of division one of the Tamworth Cue Sports League as the Queens ‘A’ and Globe both chalked up 6-2 wins over their respective opponents Red Lion ‘B’ and Red Lion ‘A’. With eight points each and dead level on average the leading pair have opened up a three points lead over third in the table Dolphin, who lost their home tie against Cue Sports Club 5-3.
In the second division Three Horse Shoes are top of the pile following their resounding 8-0 victory over Park Inn. However, Royal Oak are only behind on average, they beat Mercian 5-3.

Bromford Bridge Members Club ’A’ maintained their 100% record in the Small Heath League when they won with an emphatic 8-1 scoreline at the Victoria. Custard House are currently third after a surprising 5-4 defeat at Bromford Bridge Members Club ’B’ and are now on six points as are Victoria 301 Club, Innisfree, Mitre and Gunmaker Arms.
