In their third premier division fixture of the Kaliber BDO Inter Counties Championships, Warwickshire will be playing hosts to Essex this coming weekend. With two defeats in their opening two games they will be keen to open their account and kick start their season. The Sheldon and District Winter League staged a top of the table clash in their premier division when early leaders Fordbridge Social took on second placed Saltley Amateur Gardeners. Playing at the Fordbridge, S.Boston had a 152 break for the home side, while for the visitors J.Randell recorded a tremendous 161 finish. The all important 5-4 verdict went in favour of the Gardeners to maintain their 100% record. Fordbridge hold on to pole position but only on average as Saltley have a game in hand. No such problem in the other two divisions as Stechford Social beat Iron Horse 5-4 to remain at the top of division one and Kingshurst Labour stretched their unbeaten run in the second division to five games by beating Small Heath Amateur Gardeners 7-2.

Cup matches were on the agenda for the Four Oaks and District League. First the second round of the Brian Goodman Cup in which there were 5-4 wins for both Barn Social and Old Oscott Arrows, who in turn defeated Old Oscott WMC and Hardy Spicer.
In the first round of the Ken Rust Cup again there were two matches and again they finished with the same result, this time 7-2. Rose and Crown lost their home tie against Midland Red, while Hill Social won at home in their tie with Bromford Lions.

Bromford Bridge Members Club ’A’ continue to lead the field in the Small Heath League, their most recent encounter seeing them win 6-3 at the Custard House to give them ten points from five games. Innisfree, Mitre and Gunmakers Arms are all just two points adrift of the leaders and all recorded wins over respective opponents Wagon and Horses, Bromford Bridge Members Club ’B’ and the Victoria.

The top two teams in the G.U.L.P. Charity League swapped places this week as the Tigers won 7-0 at home to the Radley Rebels, while the Barmy Army had a close 4-3 home victory against the Who’s. A 6-1 win over the Red Lion Flights keeps the Tribe in third spot.

Three Horse Shoes lost ground in the division two title race in the Tamworth Cue Sports League as they went down 5-4 to their nearest rivals Hopwas Club. Leaders Royal Oak stayed on course for honours with a 5-3 win at Queens ’B’.
The first division race still remains very, very close as Queens ’A’ have now taken over as leaders with a 6-2 at the White Lion and second in the table Globe have fell just one leg of average behind Queens following their 5-3 win against the Dolphin.
