Warwickshire County Darts Organisation will play their fourth of five away games in the Premier Division of the BDO Inter County Championships this coming weekend when they travel to Penydarren Social Club, Tramroad Lane, Penydarren, Merthyr Tydfil, CF47 9BZ where they will take on Glamorgan. A 6-3 win at the Cider House has confirmed The Highwood as champions of the Shirley and District Monday Night League as they have taken their points tally to 50 points and have a lead of six over both Red Lion and The Wharf with just one more game to play. It was a disappointing week for both Red Lion and Wharf as they both lost 7-2 Red Lion going down at home to The Lodge who are fifth in the table and Wharf, who also had a home tie, lost against fourth placed Bears. With games fast running out now in the C’s Club Double Top Wednesday Night League Simon Edwards with a 3-0 win over Sean Healy followed by 2-1 wins against Brian Anderton and Steve Beale has replaced Mitchell Mann at the top of the table. Both players are on 83 points but Edwards has the better average plus four games in hand on Mann. Bob Nixon after beating Jamie Carter and Aaron Anson 3-0 despite being placed third in the table is still well in contention for the title as he is just four points adrift of the leading duo but has six games in hand on Mann and two on Edwards. In division one of the Four Oaks and District Winter League leaders The Boat handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their visitors bottom of the division Red Lion to take their unbeaten run to nine games and put them four points to the good on both Boldmere St Mikes, who had a bye this week and Old Oscott Arrows who won 5-4 at home against Pint Pot Flights. In division two Fox kept their two points lead and game in hand over second placed St Thomas’s Social Club with a close 5-4 win at Bishop Vesey while St Thomas’s won 6-3 at Erdington Arrows who as a result of the defeat drop one place to fourth with Drakes Drum replacing them in third spot with a 7-2 win over Boldmere Tap. Rosey Mac’s top the third division after a resounding 6-3 win against Oscott Sports who drop into second place two points behind the new leaders. In division one of the South Birmingham League second placed Coleshill Social had a vital 5-4 win over third placed Banbury Arrows to open up a gap of four points between the two teams and put Coleshill level on eight points with leaders C’s Top Guns who have a game in hand on Coleshill. A 6-3 win over bottom of division two C’s Arrows takes The Dog’s points at the top of the table to ten points and gives them a lead of two over second in the table Toby Jug who suffered a 7-2 defeat at C’s Hot Shots who are third in the able and now just two points short of Toby Jug. In the latest round of fixtures in the ECC Sports and Social Thursday Night Champions League Chris Fox chalked up a 6-1 win over Rob Montana and although he then lost his next game against Sam Aitkens 4-3 it was enough to put him top of the table on 103 points from 24 games. Currently another Chris, Chris Williams is the nearest rival to Fox his 7-0 success over Gemma Barrett like Fox was followed with a defeat, a huge 6-1 loss to reigning champion Mick Baker leaving Williams four points behind Fox with two games in hand. Mick Baker is eighth in the table on 63 points forty short of Fox but he has a massive ten games in hand which could net him a total of 70 points, so at this stage the title is still up for grabs for a number of players. Thomas Bent may have been absent for this week’s fixtures in the Shirley Premier League but nevertheless he had amassed enough points to keep him in pole position no matter what. Bent’s ten points lead however was reduced to just three as John Smyth beat Ken Hopton 3-1 and Steve Harper 4-0 to take his tally to 77 points from 28 games, three more games than Bent. Gary Cleverley is third on 70 points from 27 games after a 2-2 draw with Antony Daly and a 3-1 win against Lee Holtham. A number of players have quite a few games in hand and wins in those games could see them move up the table and actually challenge the top three players. The Small Heath League have been involved in two of their knockouts, first the Singles Knockout in which a East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association’s Neil Parsonage added yet another title to his huge list when he won the final 2-0 against Jim Frost from Heartlands Club. Game number 19 in the Kings Norton League brought about just one change in the league table with Dingle and Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club swapping places after Dingle lost 4-3 at West Heath and the Ex Serviceman’s Club won 5-2 at Grant Arms. Leaders Avenue Social took their undefeated run to seventeen games with a close 4-3 win away to Harborne to keep them two points ahead, with a game in hand on second placed Rubery RBL who in turn have a game in hand and are two points to the good on third placed Coppice who lost ground as they went down 4-3 at home to E57. The Silver End Sunday Morning League got their new season underway and kicking off with the best possible start was Brickmakers Arms ‘A’ who handed out an 8-0 whitewash to their visiting team High Acres to set the pace and take them to the top of the table. Close behind Brickmakers comes their ‘B’ team and Woodside who in turn won 7-1 against Three Crowns and Kings Head ‘B’. The Cradley Tuesday Night League played the first leg of their League Cup which produced close 5-4 wins for Netherton Sports and Social Club ‘A’, Brickmakers Arms ‘A’ and Wheatsheaf who in turn defeated Plough, Bulls Head and Gate Hangs Well. Biggest win of the round went to Roost who won 6-3 at Riddins Tavern. There were 8-1 defeats for all of the bottom three teams in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League, bottom team Hare and Hounds ‘A’ losing at home to fourth in the table Britannia, next to bottom Kingswinford Conservative Club ‘B’ lost at Gate Hangs Well who are seventh and Garibaldi lost at sixth placed British Oak. Brickmakers Arms were 8-1 winners as they made it 33 straight wins with a victory over Fox Inn (Lye), extending their lead to six points as second in the table Ten Arches ‘A’ surprisingly lost 6-3 away to Glasscutters who move up one place to eleventh. Amazingly an 8-1 win over Delph Bell was not enough for Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘A’ to hold on to second place in the Brierley Hill Monday Night League as High Oak beat Limes Club 9-0 to take over the number two spot by one leg of average over the Ex Serviceman’s Club. Both teams are on an unbeaten ten points the same as leaders Swan who were 5-4 winners at Fox and Grapes to keep them in pole position on average. The Netherton Thursday Night League have begun their league programme for the 2019 season and the early pacesetters with a 9-0 win over Saracens Head were defending champions Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club. Bulls Head were second best on opening night as they won 6-3 at Riddins Tavern, Townsend Social Club and White Horse not far behind with 5-4 wins over respective opponents Netherton Conservative Club and Fairfield.
