Warren Uses Wright Recipe to World Glory
Wayne Warren could be ready to use the Peter Wright trail to a unique World Championship double.
The Welsh wonder roared into the semi-finals of the BDO Worlds on Friday with a 5-3 win over Dutch ace Chris Landman.
But Warren, 57, revealed it’s down to the same darts guru at Red Dragon who designed Scottish star Wright’s arrows of glory for the PDC world crown.
He said: “Lee Huxtable at Red Dragon has been amazing what’s he done for me with the darts. It’s been a hard few weeks.
“I had six weeks off because my wrist was broken, I’ve not been working and I’ve not picked up a dart for six weeks.
“I missed the Grand Slam and World Masters and that meant I missed the latter end of the season when I should have been practising and I couldn’t.”
Warren missed eight match darts before finally taking out Landman to reach his first-ever semi-finals against either Scott Mitchell or Scott Waites today (Sat).
He added: “I play Chris a lot, when we are away on the tour we are like brothers. Chris plays his game but I had to try and slow him down a little bit.
“I’m not taking anything off Chris there but I didn’t play my game. I’m just so relieved to get through that game. I won’t be out tonight, early one for me to get ready for tomorrow.
“I think there will be of the family here on Saturday because they are off work. I love them all to bits. I want to chill out now, I’ll have a drink upstairs!”
