The Premier League Enters the Home Straight
The race for the 2021 Unibet Premier League play-offs reaches its climax this week, with the league phase Nights 13-16 taking place from Monday May 24 - Thursday May 27 before Friday’s Play-offs on May 28.
Fans will also return to the competition for the first time this season, adding to the atmosphere and drama as the tournament is played to its conclusion.
All 8 remaining competitors are still battling to claim their top 4 spot and qualify for the play-offs on Friday, including Jonny Clayton and Peter Wright.
Jonny has enjoyed an impressive debut season in the Premier League, picking up 6 wins and 2 draws so far and finds himself in 5th place – just outside the top four on leg difference only.
“The Ferret” opens this final session with two key matches, firstly against Gary Anderson tonight, followed by Jose de Sousa on Tuesday. Both these players are either side of Jonny and picking up two wins here will do wonders in his hunt for a play-off spot.
With the chase so tight at the top, his final 2 matches again Peter Wright and Dimitri van den Bergh will also be key for Jonny to pick-up as many points as possible.
Peter Wright finds himself in a different predicament – currently in 8th position and 5 points off the top four.
With Peter’s attention on matters away from the oche, he had four tough games in the previous phase of matches. This leaves Peter realistically needing to win all four remaining matches to grab a play-off place.
However, if anyone could pull off “Mission Impossible” – it’s former World Champion Snakebite and if he can regain momentum by winning his opening fixture with Wade, anything is possible.
The final five nights of the 2021 Unibet Premier League season will be staged with fans from May 24-28.
