Titan draws First Blood in Steel City
A terrific tournament to kick off the Steel City championship at the Woodbourne Hotel and it went to the Titan Greg Beard with a brilliant performance to see off a excellent display by Adam Warner in the Final.
1st Round
PAT FINNEY 2-4 PAUL HARRIS (TV game)
Pat broke early and then 17 & 18 dart legs got Harris back in front for the win.
LESTER BOWERS 4-0 BRAD CLOWERY
Lester broke with legs of 20 & 21.
GREG BEARD 4-0 BEN CHIVERS
130 checkout for Greg and he followed that with a 15 dart leg.
PAT MEESON 0-4 BEN DULLEY
15/18 dart legs for Dulley who powered to the next round.
STEVE MARFLEET 4-0 DAZ BLUER
18/19/21 dart legs for Marfleet and Bluer was unlucky not to get a few legs.
OWEN CUBITT 4-1 PAUL BRITTLE
A good battle this one with the Undertaker pushing Cubitt all the way and Paul with a 18 and Cubitt with 16/17/18 and 2x180s.
ANNE LOFTHOUSE 0-4 MICK HULLEY (TV Game)
Potter Hulley hit a maximum and a superb 110 checkout but was pushed all the way by Anne.
2nd Round
PETE BELL 4-3 ANTONIO CRUZ
This was a back and forth match with 4 breaks of throw but excellent to watch on the TV.
PAUL HARRIS 1-4 LESTER BOWERS (TV game)
18/18/19 for Lester and a 20 for Bomber in a very good contest.
GREG BEARD 4-0 BEN DULLEY
Dulley scored well and met a inform Greg Beard with legs of 18/19/20 and a maximum.
STEVE MARFLEET 4-0 OWEN CUBITT
14/14/15/19 dart legs for marfleet as he powered to round 3.
CHRIS KEANE 2-4 MATT PRYOR (TV Game)
Matt broke Keano at the right time for the victory.
RYAN GOFFIN 2-4 MARC ELLIS
Ellis with legs of 17/19/20/21 just pipped Goffin for the win.
ADAM WARNER 4-2 MICK HULLEY
2x16 dart legs from Warners tungsten as he broke micks darts early and kept throw very well.
GREG BATTING 0-4 RICH JOHNSON
Big Rich was clinical on the doubles.
3rd Round
MATT PRYOR 3-4 MARC ELLIS
Marc hit a 16 dart leg in the last to win a very tight game.
ADAM WARNER 4-1 RICH JOHNSON
Richard and Adam both played excellent with Warner taking the doubles better and legs of 16/19 in a great game with two great players.
PETE BELL 4-1 LESTER BOWERS (TV Game)
Pete was sensational as he fired in a 116 out with 15,15,16 dart legs.
GREG BEARD 4-1 STEVE MARFLEET
Wow. What a match as Titan hit 14,16,18,21 and a 180 each with Damorf hitting a 14 dart leg also.
Semi Finals
MARC ELLIS 1-4 ADAM WARNER (TV game)
Adam kept up the great display he'd produced all night with some terrific finishing.
PETE BELL 1-4 GREG BEARD
17/18 dart legs with a maximum and a strong game was enough to take Greg through against a difficult opponent in Pete Bell.
Final
GREG BEARD 4-1 ADAM WARNER (TV game)
Greg won the opener with a 16 dart leg and Warner quickly replied with a 20 as both men proved why they made the final. Greg then won a scrappy leg and broke with a 19 darter to go 3-1 in front. Warner had played very well and met a player in the final who was missing nothing as he fired in a 13 dart leg to finish the match.
