"Mile High" Flight Record

2013 has started a great deal better than most of 2012, with great support from my management, sponsors and friends and have several announcements coming in the very near future.

After the disappointment of the 2012 season, and missing out on a third appearance at Ally Pally, it was time to re focus and build for a demanding new season. I have spent many hours on the practise board, working out with friends in darts, "Diamond" White has been terrific and its been good to play with colleagues old and new, so many thanks to Alex, Andy Richardson and "The Rock", Peter Hudson. For a while now myself, and those around me, have felt that I was not far away but needed extra hard work due to 2 months of inaction late last year.

Results are beggining to show the benefits of the hard work. League and Open events, as always are playing a big role in my rehabilitation. So a special thankyou to the Trent Valley Darts league & all those who organise host and fund open events. Over recent weeks I have managed to get back in the winning habit and won 5 titles and been runner up twice. Check out our Open Road Section.

Anyway off to play yet more open darts now, Erdington, Newcastle Under Lyme, Runcorn & possibly Derby this weekend! Thank-you all for the support and encouragment sent my way over the recent tough spell.

Find A Pro

It was superb to see this event get up and running in December and even better to see the winner Jamie Gemmill make his top class debut at PDC Q School in January.

The "Find A Pro" scheme is the first of two projects that I have set in place to help me put something back into darts. Over 30 years I have had a huge amount of enjoyment and opportunity from the game and it seems right to find a way of helping others get the same.

Team Hylton, Red Dragon & a group of mine and other sponsors have rallied round to help ensure that both are a great success. Jamie has started very well with notable victories over experienced PDC players and has opted to spread his prize over the year and gain as much experience as possible. He represent the scheme perfectly and its great to watch.

Will the support we have received the mile High trophy will again take place in December 2013 and give another player chance to test himself against the very best!

Darts 4 Schools

At the opposite end of the scale to giving a player chance to experience PDC darts will be the Darts 4 Schools program. Again we have received superb support from Red Dragon and many more (watch this space!). We really want more young players to experience the benefits of playing darts. The fun, teamwork and social interaction is hugely positive for young people of all backgrounds and needs. From special needs education through to main stream schools and clubs we want to help. A national program will be started very soon. Schools can register, take part in inter school events and gain darts kit and visits from Team Red Dragon players. Also they will be encouraged to do this whilst helping the planet and raising money for the school or organisation. Keep an eye here for more from the exciting project:

We highly recommend keeping your diary free on March 2nd!

The Open Road,

There have been some great events so far in 2013, regardless of my personal results it is great to see open events becoming stronger again this year. Many multi event competitions are happening round the country with St Helens and Stoke being hosts for week night Knockouts with finals nights after 8 or so events. the east Midlands Open looks like being one of the biggest independent opens for a while, whilst the Southport Open would have featured except it clashes with PDC event 1!

So far this year I have picked up wins in Burton x 2, Stirchley, Erdington & Runcorn, Runner up spots in Northampton, Solihull & a number of Semi^s & Qtrs in Stoke, Stafford, Birmingham & Worcester. Coming soon will be my defence of the Staffordshire "Lionel Smith" Open as well as events in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Manchester, Newcastle U L and loads more. I cannot recommend them highly enough so if you love your darts or are trying to get batter, head to your local open and meet some of the best people in our sport.

Landing Strip

There will be loads more to come from me and Team Hylton over 2013, one thing^s for sure, there is never a dull moment. Look out for an update very soon!

Thanks, "Mile High"
