Article: Green edges past Hankey

Green edges past Hankey

Ross Montgomery will meet Davy Richardson in the final of the BDO International Open series in Brean Sands on Sunday night.

Montgomery overcame Robbie Green in the semi-final while Richardson defeated Mark Barilli.

There was controversy earlier in the day at the Brean Sands Holiday Centre, Somerset as Ted Hankey was outgunned by Green.

The ^Kong^ triumphed 2-1 in sets, however, the match will live long in the memory of Darts fans as Green and Hankey clashed over the use of the air-conditioning system.

Green claimed the air-conditioning affected his throw and requested the system be turned off, much to Hankey’s anger.

"Early on in the first two sets there was quite a bit of wind blowing across the stage and when I threw my darts they weren’t landing properly," Green told Setanta Sports.

"They were landing all crooked, I couldn’t get in above or below, so I asked for the air-conditioning to be turned off, which is well within my rights.

"I beat him fair and square. It’s one of those where a little thing can put you off but I knew there was something wrong so that’s the end of it.

"If people back home want to see good darts then the air-conditioning should be turned off."
