Gerwyn Price Lands Last Gasp Champion of Champions Qualification

Wales’ top ranked PDC star Gerwyn Price landed a last gasp Worthington’s Champion of Champions qualification spot last night at Wattsville National Club.

Price, 2015 Champion of Champions winner, seized on the last gasp opportunity as the original qualifier had to withdraw from finals day. As per the rulings, due to the original venue winner having  to withdraw from finals day and with the runner-up having qualified at a different event – the National Club were required to re-run the qualifying event.

Despite short notice, the organisers ran a fantastic event with a field of 19 players battling for the finals day spot and a chance at the record £10,000 winner’s prize.

For Gerwyn, it was all about getting the chance to re-claim the title and become the first player to win the people’s darts event for a second time.

Gezzy said “It was amazing news to find out that a venue had become available in qualifying, as I’ve played every year previously and can’t believe how big this event has become, I’ll be going to Cardiff looking to take the title“

Finals day takes place tomorrow at St. David’s Hall, Cardiff in what promises to be an action-packed tournament with qualifiers from all over the UK & Ireland playing for a £31,500 prize fund.

Spectator tickets are still available to purchase up until 2pm today for collection on the day, click here to purchase.

A limited number of tickets will also be available on the day.
