HUMPHRIES EASES THROUGH AS VAN VEEN DAZZLES AT ALLY PALLY

Day Twelve of the Paddy Power World Darts Championship delivered a night of authority, flair and fine margins at the Alexandra Palace. Luke Humphries cruised into round three with a commanding whitewash, while Gian van Veen lit up the stage with the performance of the tournament so far to announce himself as a genuine contender.

From heavyweight control to fearless brilliance, Monday’s double-session reinforced one familiar truth - The Ally Pally rewards those brave enough to impose themselves.


AFTERNOON SESSION

Fine Margins, Grit & Breaking Points

Madars Razma 3–1 Darren Beveridge

(3–0, 3–2, 1–3, 3–2)
Madars Razma advanced to the last 32 for a third straight year with a composed display. After being pegged back in the fourth set, the Latvian responded with authority, averaging over 97 and converting 59% of his doubles to see out the contest.

 

Gabriel Clemens 3–0 Wessel Nijman

(3–1, 3–2, 3–1)
Gabriel Clemens produced another Ally Pally upset, punishing missed opportunities from Nijman on the outer ring. The former semi-finalist kept his composure throughout to reach round three for the fifth time in his career.

 

Kevin Doets 3–0 David Munyua

(3–1, 3–0, 3–1)
Kevin Doets brought David Munyua’s dream debut to a close with a professional performance. Despite strong crowd support for the Kenyan trailblazer, the Dutchman dropped just two legs to progress with minimal fuss.

 

Ricky Evans 3–2 James Wade

(3–2, 1–3, 3–2, 0–3, 6–4)
One of the matches of the tournament. Ricky Evans held his nerve in a dramatic deciding-set tie-break, surviving missed match darts and producing a clutch 99 checkout to edge past James Wade in a five-set thriller.

Gian van Veen 3–1 Alan Soutar

Gian van Veen delivered a sensational performance, posting a tournament-high 108.28 average and recording just three treble-less visits. After surviving a set dart early, the Dutchman won seven legs on the spin to reach round three for the first time.

Nathan Aspinall 3–0 Leonard Gates

(3–1, 3–1, 3–1)
Nathan Aspinall was in complete control as he swept aside Leonard Gates in straight sets. The former World Matchplay champion looked relaxed and assured throughout, booking a last-32 clash with Kevin Doets.

 

Luke Humphries 3–0 Paul Lim

(3–0, 3–0, 3–1)
Luke Humphries produced a ruthless display to dismantle Paul Lim. The world number two raced through the opening two sets without reply, averaging north of 108, before closing out the match with a 50% success rate on the doubles.

Charlie Manby 3–0 Adam Sevada

(3–0, 3–0, 3–1)
Charlie Manby’s dream debut continued in emphatic fashion. The 20-year-old won the first six legs on the spin and conceded just one leg in total, converting 47% of his doubles to secure another standout victory.

LOOKING AHEAD
