ADC Preview - Battle in the Northeast!

With just two weekends of action until the final two Winmau Championship Tours of the year, the need for ranking points is huge and the opportunity presents itself to ADC Number 2 Adam Atkinson and Number 4 Tony Wood at the Winmau Sky Lounge for Ranking Series Event 5.

The Poolie reached the Semi Finals of the Knack Ranking Series in his most recent performance after winning the Turbinia Open at the end of August beating Jack Bell 4-2 in the Final. The Englishman has won 8 ADC Titles this year including ADC Championship Tour 1 after beating Wood in the Final back in April.

The 27-year-old averaged 96.07 in the Final against Bell including a staggering first three dart average of 123.83 including two maximums in the match. Atkinson sealed victory with the only ton plus finish, finding 110 to break his opponents throw to take home the 64 ranking points.

Tony Wood known as the Friday night king having won the two tournaments just before Winmau Championship Tours 3 and 5 in Manchester and Bristol. The man who hit the first and only nine darter in the Amateur Darts Circuit has arguably been one of the most consistent performers in the organisation sitting in fourth having won less titles than the four players below him in the rankings.

The 54-year old’s last tournament win came last month at the Friday Night Pre ADC Tour KO having whitewashed Liam Maughan 4-0 in the Final, including checkouts of 112 and 95 to break the throw in the third leg of the tungsten tussle.

The potential for a rematch between the pair could come in Washington on Saturday with both registered for the event and with Steve Brown looming for Adam Atkinson in second, the need for points is massive as he looks to keep hold of second spot.

Matt Jackson the ADC Number 1 makes his way to Solihull for the September GSoD at Riley’s on Sunday, as he looks to add a 24th title to his wins for 2022 in a very impressive showing by the Englishman on the debut year in the ADC.

ADC Championship Tour 4 Plate winner Jenson Walker is amongst the other players registered for the event in Solihull, with the youngster looking to add a second title under his belt as he sits 99th in the ADC Rankings.

Phil Borthwick the number 11 ranked player will also grace the oche on Sunday for the Consett Station Club Ranking Tournament 4 in County Durham with a three-point gap separating him for tenth placed Kevin McDine.

Supa MC has conquered the Globe Hotel in Gateshead twice this year which has allowed him to move back up the rankings having dropped out the top 16 earlier on in the year.

56-year-old Borthwick has won three titles this year with his last victory coming at the Consett Station Club towards the end of July winning ranking series 3, after beating Paul Dinning 5-2 in the Final with the runner up also registered for Sunday’s event.

Another bumper packed weekend of darting action commences after just two competitions took place last weekend and with top ranked players like Matt Jackson and Adam Atkinson in action, more twists could occur in the rankings in what has been a successful outing for the Amateur Darts Circuit’s debut year.
