Twenty seven of the thirty players in the C’s Club Double Top Wednesday Night League have completed their fixtures with just three players Bob Nixon, Simon Edwards and Neil McCrave still having games to play. Nevertheless the championship has already been decided as Bob Nixon retains the title having played 27, won 27 and amassed 77 points with two games to play. For a second consecutive season Simon Edwards finishes as runner-up, he still has one fixture remaining but with 73 points he can only reach 76 which would leave him still one short of Nixon. Terry Webster finished third in the league with 71 points just pipping fourth placed Tom White who had 70 points. Top marks go to the Beale family as Louise, Ryan, Melissa and Luke were four of the bottom placed five players, however their dedication saw them complete their fixture card, without players such as the Beale’s there would be no leagues. Steve Beale was the highest placed member of the family finishing the season in nineteenth place with 36 points. The race for the title in the Shirley Legion Double Top League is hotting up as current leader Thomas Bent added a 3-1 win over Brian Lawton followed by a 4-0 success against Jack Nason to put him on 89 points from 29 games and second in the league Mark Gwalchmai who played three games won 4-0 against Jamie Whitton and Lee Lattimer and 3-1 against Jack Nason to leave him just one point short of Bent’s total but from one game more. With Gwalchmai missing for the next couple of weeks Bent will be hoping not to drop any further legs and extend his lead. Lee Harris has moved up three places to third beginning the night with a 3-1 win over Chris Thomas snr then winning 4-0 against Colin Geens and rounding off his trio of wins with a 3-1 success over Sean Talbot to give him 80 points from 28 games. Player of the week was Adam Stuart who kicked off the evening with a 3-1 win over Ken Hopton in which he hit a maximum and recorded an eight darts leg, he then beat John O’Sullivan 4-0 recording the highest possible finish of 170 in a nine darts leg and rounded off a fantastic night with a 3-1 win against Jordan Ottley hitting his second 180 and second eight darts leg. With all of the league fixtures now complete the Camp Hill League have been running down their season with various finals the first of which saw Pete Yardley (New Inn) beat Joe Fox (Emerald Club) to take the Consolation Singles title. White Swan Nomads made it a fantastic double adding the League Cup to their already won league championship when they won 4-3 against Emerald Club and with a similar close 4-3 result Tyseley WMC accounted for Station Wagon to win the Consolation Cup final. The final outstanding league fixture was played which produced a 4-3 win for New Inn over Sedgemere Devil’s Club. The league will be holding their AGM on Sunday 18th August at the Wagon and Horses, Adderley Street, Digbeth, B9 4ED at 11.00am with a view to starting the new season around the end of August / beginning of September. All teams both old and new are cordially invited to attend the meeting. After only week four in the Kings Norton League just one of the thirteen starters Avenue CF remains undefeated and top the table with their three wins in three games so far the latest of which saw them hand out a first 5-2 defeat to Rubery RBL. Thurlestone’s similar 5-2 win at Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club puts them second in the table level on points with the leaders but they have played one game more than them. E57, Grant Arms and Weoley Hill have all played four games and lost just one leaving them level on points with both Avenue CF and Thurlestone. A 6-3 win away to fifth in the Shirley and District Monday Night League table The Bears has seen Dunky’s Boys take their undefeated run to fifteen games and gives them a lead of four points after The Lodge lost not only 5-4 at home to The Lion but also their number two spot as they have been replaced by Highwood who handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their hosts Shirley Spartac to go two points ahead of Lodge with a game in hand. The Netherton Thursday Night League staged the second leg of the semi-finals of their Andy Bastable Trophy. League leaders Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club lost the first leg at Bulls Head 5-4 but won the second 5-4, however a win by Phil Tonks over Aaron Dingley in a play-off decider secured their place in the final. The Ex Serviceman’s will take on second in the league Riddins Tavern in the final after their overall 10-8 win over White Horse. In the Shadow Cup semis there was another sudden death leg which saw Simon Swingler beat Mark Jones to give Netherton Conservative Club a very close 10-9 win against Fairfield. Townsend Social Club booked their place in the final with an overall 13-5 win over Saracens Head. A 7-2 home win over Lamp Tavern maintained the four point’s lead Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘A’ have at the top of the Brierley Hill Monday Night League over Roebuck and Rose and Crown who are placed second and third in the table. Roebuck were held to a close 5-4 win in their home tie with Mount Pleasant while Rose and Crown had a more convincing 7-2 win away to fourth in the table and former leaders High Oak. Following their 8-1 home win over Glasscutters Brickmakers Arms, after the opening four games have taken over pole position in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League, second placed Britannia are the only other team in the league apart from Brickmakers to have won all of their games so far the latest of which was a 7-2 win at Bird (Wordsley). After the top two there are five teams Ten Arches, British Oak, Stourbridge RBL, Gate Hangs Well and Hop House who are all on six points having lost just one of their four games. Former leaders Ten Arches were knocked off the top and dropped to third after losing 5-4 at British Oak. M.Abbott (Hop House) recorded the only maximum of the week. The week four fixture between the Small Heath League’s East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association and Sheldon Marlborough Arrows was postponed and as a result E.B.A.H.A. lost their number one perch to be replaced by Heartlands Club who handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their visiting team Wagon and Horses. At the other end of the table Cob’s Bar moved off the bottom with a 5-4 home win over Emerald Club and after their heavy defeat Wagon and Horses replace them at the foot of the table. The South Birmingham League have got their new season underway with six teams in group one and five in group two. Centurion, C’s Flights and C’s Hot Shots all won 6-2 to share the number one spot in the top division while an 8-0 win for C’s Top Guns over C’s Bullets put them top of group two. In the Silver End Sunday Morning League Woodside ‘A’ lost for only the second time in 14 games when they went down 6-2 at home to Brickmakers Arms ‘B’ who move up one place to third with 32 points from 15 games. With 34 points Woodside ‘A’ drop to second place behind new leaders Glasscutters ‘B’ whose 5-3 win at Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club to give them an unbeaten 36 points, the Ex Serviceman’s Club drop one place to fourth with 30 points. The Vine did their hopes of winning the Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League title no harm whatsoever in game nineteen as they handed their hosts Ivy Bush a 7-0 whitewash to maintain their two points lead at the top of the table over former leaders Tipton Sports who had what could be a vital 6-1 win over third in the table Dewdrop ‘A’. Dewdrop ‘A’ have now played one game less than the two teams above them but trail The Vine by some ten points. Leaders of the Cradley Tuesday Night League Brickmakers Arms ‘A’ suffered a somewhat surprising 5-4 home defeat when in game 19 they lost to sixth in the table Plough who are 21 points behind them and have played one game more. A 6-3 win at Bulls Head has seen second in the league Netherton Sports and Social ‘A’ draw level on 45 points with Brickmakers Arms ‘A’ plus they have a game in hand on the leaders. With the Swan confirmed as champions of the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League the league have been engaged in cup semi-finals, first the League Cup in which fourth placed Wombourne Cricket Club beat Gate Hangs Well 5-2 to set up a final against league runners-up Ashwood ‘B’ who had a close 4-3 verdict against Glasscutters. Both of the Shadow Cup last four games finished with a 5-2 result with Brickmakers Arms ‘A’ and Ashwood ‘A’ accounting in turn for Bell ‘B’ and Netherton Cricket Club. A 4-1 home defeat by Gilberts Bar has cost the Bell the number one spot in the West Midlands Men’s Super League as with 25 points they dropped to fourth in the table. Woodside Inn had a resounding 5-0 win against The Griffin to see them move up one place into pole position with 31 points closely followed by Yeltz Bar ‘A whose similar 5-0 result against Gunners Club leaves them just one point short of the new leaders. Reigning champions Allen’s Sports Bar ‘A’ had a narrow 3-2 win over their ‘C’ team to lift them one place in the table to third with 26 points. Golden Hind are just a whisker away from winning the division one title in the Sutton and District Summer League after beating The Boat, who were second 8-1. The defeat sees Boat drop to third behind Boldmere St Mike’s level on 14 points but trailing on average after they won 6-3 at Pint Pot Flights, both Boldmere and Boat are four points behind the leaders with just two more games to play. Unbelievably with two to play in division two just one point separates the top three teams. Fifth in the table Moreton reduced the arrears to four points on fourth placed ECC ‘A’ beating them by a close 4-3 margin, however Moreton have played one game more than their opponents.
